Miley Cyrus Says Dolly Parton “Clutched Her Pearls And Gasped” When Miley Told Her She Might Go Brunette

If you ask the great Dolly Parton, I’m sure she will tell you that the old adage “blondes have more fun,” is a cold hard fact (and obviously, I’d agree wholeheartedly).

And she’s passing that wisdom and advice onto her goddaughter Miley Cyrus (or trying to, at least), as Miley recently sat down with TODAY’s Hoda Kotb, where she revealed that Dolly was not a fan of her going brunette…

Apparently, Dolly was so taken aback by the idea of Miley dying her hair darker that she “clutched her pearls” and told Miley it was out of the question.

Miley added that Dolly’s reaction was as if she was receiving “the worst news you could imagine,” saying she’d “never seen Dolly actually scared” before this moment:

“I’ve never seen Dolly actually scared before. But I told her, you know, at the end of the year, I was really wanting to do something different. I think I’m going to dye my hair brunette.

She acted like I told her the worst news you could imagine. She clutched her pearls, gasped and went back and she goes, ‘You can’t do that! You are me.’

So I’m somehow some extension of Dolly Parton where she looked like I had just given her the worst news you’ve ever heard.”

And personally, I would think it’d be hard to walk into a salon and go brunette in good faith after a reaction like that from the queen herself and the blonde bombshell of all blonde bombshells, Dolly Parton, but Miley’s a bit of a wildcard, so we’ll see if she keeps the blonde in 2023.

Here’s a clip of that interview with Hoda:

Dolly’s set to co-host Miley’s New Year’s Eve special live from Miami, Florida tomorrow night, which airs live starting at 10:30pm ET on NBC and Peacock TV.

It’s the second year Miley has hosted a New Year’s special, and it will be executive produced by Saturday Night Live creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels.
