Hailey Whitters’ Cover Of Randy Travis’ “Meet Me Under The Mistletoe” Needs To Be On Your Christmas Playlist

We’ve only got a couple more days until Christmas, and we’ve got plenty of recommendations for you if you’re still trying to put those last few finishing touches on your ultimate holiday playlist.

You should check out our list of sad Christmas songs if you’re in a blue mood or our Country Christmas Songs That Don’t Suck playlist for even more songs.

But I want to give a special spotlight to this  Hailey Whitters cover of the delightful Randy Travis song “Meet Me Under the Mistletoe.”

Hailey Whitters has had a fantastic year with the release of her stellar album Raised and her song “Everything She Ain’t” having a viral moment on TikTok and ending up being no. 97 on Billboard’s Year-End Hot Country Songs Chart.

So, it only makes sense that she would cap out this year with some amazing Christmas covers. We luckily got two. “New Baby for Christmas,” which is originally by George Jones and my personal favorite “Meet Me Under the Mistletoe,” obviously.

The original song was released back in 1989 on Randy Travis’s Christmas album An Old Time Christmas along with covers of classics like “Winter Wonderland” and Willie Nelson’s “Pretty Paper” (which Cody Johnson also did a fantastic cover of).

This mistletoe song though is absolutely adorable and very simply has the singer telling their partner to meet them under the mistletoe because kissing them is the present they want. The holiday season has been too busy and too stressful, but this person makes them feel like a kid again and makes them excited to celebrate.

Like I said, pretty freaking adorable.

Whitters’s version is no different and perfectly captures the peppy, lighthearted vibe of the song. Her voice is amazing, and her twang gets to really shine on this fiddle-heavy tune.

I’m telling you, this is the perfect last-minute addition to your holiday playlist.
