Jake Paul Set To Fight UFC Legend Anderson Silva In October

It’s been a hot minute since “The Problem Child” Jake Paul has gotten into the boxing ring.

We thought we were getting the highly anticipated fight between he and Tommy Fury in August, but Fury injured himself while training and some travel issues forced him to back out.

He was then supposed to fight Hasim Rahman Jr., but he couldn’t make his weight, so that was called off too.

Needless to say, Paul has been eagerly looking for an opponent…

And now, he has one.

We’re talking about the MMA legend, Anderson Silva.

The two are set to square off on October 29th at Gila River Arena in Phoenix, Arizona, according to Dexerto.

The fight is rumored to be set at 185 pounds, making this a heavyweight fight.

And boy, Paul had some big words for Silva. After he announced the fight, he made the following statement:

“Although, I’m going to knock him out in under five rounds!”

Paul has proven thus far that he more or less belongs in the sport as he’s gone undefeated so far in his short career. That being said, he’s never fought a true boxer, nor anybody in the prime of their career.

And while he definitely looks like he can bang in the ring, Ben Askren, a wrestler, came in out of shape and careless, Tyron Woodley, also a wrestler, looked like he was barely trying to fight… both times.

I just don’t think we’ve seen Jake box with someone who can really test him, and a year long layoff might have added a little rust to The Problem Child.

On the other side, he’ll be fighting a former UFC Middleweight Champion who holds the record for the longest title reign in UFC history, going 2,457 straight days, resulting in 16 consecutive victories in that span.

However, Silva is 47-years-old now, and although his primary focus has been boxing since last year, we’ll see how his age fares against the much younger Paul.

Even though Paul is a complete walking toolbag, it’s hard to deny that he isn’t capable of winning this one, or at least put up one helluva fight.

I guess time will tell.
