Jon Pardi Is Begging Her To Back It Up In New Country Heartbreaker, “Reverse Cowgirl”

Jon Pardi country music

The man has done it again.

We’ve been anticipating this new Jon Pardi album, Mr. Saturday Night, for quite some time now, and the day has finally come.

I’ll admit, I was wondering how in the hell the California Cowboy would be able to follow up his excellent 2019 Heartache Medication album, along with his stellar 2016 California Sunrise project.

However, Mr. Saturday Night has proven that Pardi is a mainstay force for pure country music in the mainstream, and he’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

The collection of singles he released before the album, like “Last Night Lonely,” “Fill ‘Er Up,” and the title-track, were excellent buildups for what was to come, and the full track list delivered in a great way.

You can tell that there’s something intimate and personal with these songs, more so than any album he’s released in the past, and Pardi even admits it as well:

“A lot of time was spent living with the songs on this record. There is more life experience on ‘Mr. Saturday Night’ than any album I’ve released before. I chose ‘Mr. Saturday Night’ as the title track because it’s special to me.

I’ve been hanging onto it for three years and can’t wait for people to hear it, and the rest of these songs.”

There’s a number of songs that reach out and grab your attention on the project, even from just the song title in particular, but there’s a few, in my opinion, that could be some MASSIVE hits.

And in my opinion, “Reverse Cowgirl” may be the best one. Not gonna lie, when I first saw this title, I assumed it was about to be a satirical raunchy song about the sex position. But no, this is a COUNTRY song right here if I’ve ever heard one.

Written by Zack Dyer, Joe Fox, Jared Scottm it’s a fiddle-driven song that sounds like it’s straight out of the ’90s, about how his woman left home without saying goodbye after a tough stretch in their relationship. And when he says “Reverse Cowgirl,” it’s actually a message to his woman, asking her to turn around and come back home.

The play on words on this one is immaculate. Not only does it grab your attention off the bat, but also has some painful lyrics that nearly everybody has experienced at least once in their life.
