Walker Hayes Says They Might Actually Open A “Fancy Like” Applebee’s On Broadway, & I Officially Give Up On Nashville

Applebee's walker hayes

Oh God, say it ain’t so…

Back on April Fool’s Day, we made the joke that Walker Hayes was gonna buy out the iconic Ernest Tubb Record Shop on Lower Broadway in Nashville, which was closing its doors at the time, and turn it into a four story Applebee’s Bar & Grill, inspired by that God awful “Fancy Like” song that gave my ears internal bleeding after hearing it 4,467,521 times during the Super Bowl.

I mean, wouldn’t that be the most on-brand Nashville thing ever?

Needless to say, the song might be the most overplayed thing I’ve heard, but you know how Nashville works… ride anything makes money until the wheels fall… and then ride it even more.

Of course, it was all fun and games…

Until it wasn’t.

Because Walker Hayes actually might’ve thought it would be a great idea.

In a recent episode of the “Gunner & Cheyenne” morning show on KMLE 107.9 FM in Phoenix, Arizona, he expressed the thought:

“There is talk of us really opening an Applebee’s downtown on Broadway in Nashville.”

Now it’s hard to tell if my guy is being satirical or not, but judging by the past gimmicks I’ve seen happen on Broadway (Like Jason Aldean’s, Luke Bryan’s, and FGL House), I’m mentally preparing for the worst.

And when I say mentally preparing for the worst, I’m talking about a bachelorette party chowing down on a half rack of Applebee’s ribs and sipping on $1 margs after dancing to “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)” on the “Walker Hayes’ Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill 2.0” dancefloor in Nashville.

Then again, why would anyone come to Nashville to go to a Walker Hayes Applebee’s? It makes no sense… and yet, it makes SO much sense for the cheeseball, walking gimmick of a downtown.

So, if our April Fool’s joke inspired them to actually go for it, then we sincerely apologize.

And for those who are lucky enough to have no idea what song I’m talking about, let me ruin your day real quick:
