Paul Cauthen & Orville Peck’s Cover Of “Unchained Melody” Is Perfection

Paul Cauthen Orville Peck country music

Back in 2020, Paul Cauthen and Orville Peck teamed up to create The Unrighteous Brothers and covered the songs “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feeling” and “Unchained Melody” by The Righteous Brothers.

Now, both covers are incredible because both of these guys are. The Unrighteous Brothers have such deep and unique voices that are amazing at conveying the emotions and personality of lyrics.

But their cover of “Unchained Melody” may be one of my favorite covers of all time.

The original song is pretty close to perfection itself honestly. Maybe it’s overplayed now and has become a little cheesy, but I can’t deny that I get all warm and fuzzy when those first few notes play.

It’s like instant dopamine.

But now, now with Paul Cauthen and Orville Peck crooning their hearts out . . . woo, it can’t be beat.

I first found this cover as I was making a playlist for the drive before I moved. I was sitting on my bed surrounded by piles of stuff that needed to go into boxes for the next day, completely mesmerized, unable to move.

When I tell you I audibly gasped multiple times, I would be lying because it definitely closer to a screech.

The way Cauthen sings “mine.”

Peck’s freaking high note.

And the music video! Ugh, it’s so simple. Just those two dudes in the studio singing in black and white. But it perfectly fits the song.

You can see them sway and belt and feed off each other. They’re wearing matching black cowboy hats. Orville Peck has his mask, and Paul Cauthen has his sunglasses.

It’s just so good, man.

I have no other words other than stop whatever you’re doing right now and listen to this song.

No, seriously.

Turn off the stove, take an earlier lunch break, put the kids down for a nap. Whatever you must do.
