Pat Green just brought us the perfect honky tonk heater to kick off the weekend.

The Texas country and red dirt legend dropped his brand new single, “If It Don’t Have a Honky Tonk,” today, and if you’ve been dying for that ideal song to pregame and get rowdy to before going out on the town with the boys on a Friday night, this is it.

In the song, Green sings about how on the day he dies, he’s headed straight to the local honky tonk just off the streets of gold up in Heaven.

He sends his message loud and clear in the lyrics:

“When I get to the pearly gates
I’ll be lookin’ for the swingin’ doors…”

You already know ol’ Pat’s ready to raise some Cain up there.

With that being said, the man also announced the official release date of his brand new album, Miles and Miles Of You, which is slated to drop August 26th.

He expressed his excitement for the upcoming release:

“I’m so excited to finally have my new project MILES AND MILES OF YOU into the people’s hands. I only put out a record when the time is right, and after Covid I really felt like this was the time.

So much life happened in that year off the road and that is what we captured on this project. The ups, the downs, the sideways and all the laughs that we could muster.

I sure hope you like it as much as we loved making it for you. Happy listening!”

Judging by the singles he’s already released, with “If It Don’t Have a Honky Tonk,” the title track, “All In This Together,” “Build You a Bar,” and “Steady,” this very well could be shaping up to be one of his best projects to date.
