The Kayce Dutton music era is upon us.

Yellowstone’s Luke Grimes, AKA Kayce Dutton, is officially writing country music songs with some fantastic co-writers in Jessi Alexander and Ben Hayslip.

Jessi posted a photo of the three of them after their writing session, saying that they’d just finished a song together… and I’ve never been more jealous of an Instagram photo in my life:

“I was the lucky girl that got to make up a song today with these boys. Ben Hayslip, Luke Grimes #notkayce #countryandwestern #yellowstonefangirl.”

In addition to her solo music, Jessi has written songs for Reba, Blake Shelton, Riley Green, Morgan Wallen, and more, while Ben has had cuts by Justin Moore, Morgan Wallen, Cody Johnson, Riley Green and more.

Whatever the song’s about, I can’t WAIT to hear what they came up with.

The only thing that could make Kayce Dutton, rugged Montana cowboy and ex-Navy SEAL, any hotter is him singing country music… I don’t know if I’m fully prepared for this next endeavor of his.

Luke announced a few months back that he had plans to really jump into country music, and he’s currently working with the management team of Midland, Hailey Whitters, and even his Yellowstone buddy Ryan Bingham.

Growing up as a pastor’s kid, he wasn’t allowed to listen to music from Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and Johnny Cash, but these days, in addition to the legends of the past, he likes Colter Wall, Paul Cauthen, and Ruston Kelly:

“I hate this word, but the ‘secular’ music that I was allowed to listen to as a kid was Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash.

That’s the stuff my dad grew up on in the Appalachian Mountains. When he didn’t have to be a pastor, he was playing that sort of folk and country-rock.

We have a record player system in our house and Colter’s sitting right there next to it.”

Yellowstone fans actually dug up an old Grimes song called “Restless Road,” a song written for the 2012 pilot episode of a show called Outlaw Country. FX passed on the show, but ended up airing it as a stand-alone movie:
