Sam Hunt will be joining the girl dad team in just a few short weeks.

He revealed the gender of his firstborn child in an interview with Lon Helton this past week on Country Countdown USAwhich was also the first time he’s publicly spoken about the pregnancy at all:

“I haven’t talked about this, but I have a little girl on the way. I have a baby coming in about 8 weeks. I blocked out two months at the end of May and early June.

Really this year revolves around that big news in my life.”

Lon also asked if they had a name picked out for the baby, and Sam told him they have a few options but want to wait until she’s born to make a final decision:

“Not yet, we’re thinking about it. I want her to be in the world before we name her. I want to be able to look at her and decide what name suits her best.”

Of course, all of this comes on the heels of the news that Sam’s wife of five years, Hannah Lee Fowler, filed for divorce in late February.

TMZ recently broke the news that Hannah had filed for divorce, citing infidelity as the reason. They were married in 2017.

The complaint filed states that Sam is “guilty of inappropriate marital conduct,” as well as “guilty of adultery”, although at the time, neither one of them had publicly announced the pregnancy.

Hannah (and her lawyers) had initially filed the papers in the circuit court in Davidson County, which includes Nashville, despite stating that the grounds for divorce arose while the couple lived in neighboring Williamson County.

She had that complaint dismissed soon thereafter, only to refile in the Chancery Court of Williamson County, which is still active.

Though it’s not an ideal situation for anyone to bring a newborn baby into by any stretch of the imagination, hopefully they will be able to focus on their new addition and can put their differences aside as much as humanly possible for the sake of their little girl.

Sam also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI charges in relation to his 2019 DUI incident in Nashville in 2021, when his blood alcohol level was over was twice the legal limit at 0.173, and he was subsequently seen driving the wrong way down Ellington Parkway in the early morning hours as a result.

His current single at country radio is “23”:
