NFL Players Roast Bengals CB Eli Apple After He Gave Up The Super Bowl-Winning Touchdown

Safe to say Eli Apple isn’t the most popular guy in the NFL.

The Cincinnati Bengals cornerback is known for doing his share of trash talking on Twitter.

He recently pissed off fans of two of his former teams, the New York Giants and the New Orleans Saints, when he bashed their fan bases on Twitter.

And he threw a shot at the Ravens in there too.

Then after the Bengals knocked off the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, Apple took to Twitter again to troll Chiefs wide receivers Mecole Hardman and Tyreek Hill.

Now, Saints fans are familiar with just how bad Eli “Burnt Toast” Apple really is. In his two years in New Orleans he had a grand total of 2 interceptions and one forced fumble, to go along with his single interception during his three year tenure with the Giants.

So yeah, Saints fans weren’t really sad to see him leave New Orleans.

But last night Eli Apple’s inability to back up his smack talk was on full display in the Super Bowl as he was consistently burnt by Odell Beckham Jr. and then, after OBJ went down and was forced out of the game, Cooper Kupp.

With the Rams down by 4 but knocking on the door of the Bengals goalline in the final minutes of the game, Apple was flagged for a pass interference penalty after pulling on Kupp’s jersey, giving the Rams a first and goal at the 1-yard line.

Then just a couple of plays later, Rams QB Matt Stafford floated a pass over Apple to Kupp for what would ultimately be the game-winning touchdown.

And NFL players from across the league took to Twitter to roast the shit out of Apple.

Of course Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman had something to say after Apple’s smack talk just a couple of weeks earlier:

And so did his former Saints teammates Michael Thomas and CJ Gardner-Johnson.

But players from other teams quickly got in on the action too.

Apple has yet to respond to any of the criticism (first time he’s ever been quiet on Twitter), which is probably smart.

Better stay away from Twitter for awhile after that performance.
