Interesting development from the Williams family.

Sam Williams, the son of Hank Williams Jr. and grandson of Hank Williams, recently shared a rather cryptic video on YouTube claiming that he was placed in a conservatorship, similar to Britney Spears.

In the silent video, which is unviewable and “private” on YouTube, Williams holds up a number of handwritten messages on various pieces of paper. According to TMZ, his caption on the video says:

“I’ve been quiet a long time now. I want out of this, and I don’t mind people knowing.

They took my grief process, my spirit, my money, my car, my home, and everything possible in order to ‘protect me.’ Well, I need protection from them.”

The written message in the video reads as follows:

“I am under a conservatorship my father, my half sister, and a lawyer placed me in it abruptly in August 2020, 55 days after my sister’s tragic death.

I want out.”

He also tweeted out the video, tagging his father, Hank  Jr., on Twitter:

TMZ was able to verify via court records that Hank did file a petition for an emergency conservatorship in August of 2020 for Sam. However, they were unable to determine the current status of the conservatorship.

Sam’s sister Katie passed away in a tragic car accident in July of 2020.

Generally speaking, a conservatorship is granted by a judge when a responsible person or organization (the conservator) is appointed to care for another adult (the conservatee) who cannot adequality care for themselves or manage their own finances. Often times, the conservatee may suffer dementia or other mental illnesses.

In November of 2021, Sam shared an Instagram post congratulating his dad on induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and he also attended the ceremony with him.

“Big day for the icon living.”

Sam’s debut album Glasshouse Children was released in August of 2021, right around the same time as the conservatorship, via Universal Music Nashville.

The album featured duets with Dolly Parton, as well as Keith Urban.

“This album has been made over a few years- years of loss, change, and uncertainty. I hope it gives you a positive sense of self and you believe your vulnerability is power after listening.”
