I’ve been praying for this day, a day where Jake Paul actually fights a famed boxer, and it appeared as though we were finally getting it…
The Sun reported that the Jake Paul’s next fight was going to be an exhibition with none other than Mike Tyson.
A Las Vegas source told The Sun:
“Mike and Jake are on board for an exhibition bout in Las Vegas. A verbal deal has been struck to get it on, but like all forms of sports business, now it’s all about the contracts and money split.
Mike is looking for a certain figure to get into the ring with a profit share guarantee.
Jake obviously has that on his mind but is keen to show the world that stepping into the ring with a man once called the baddest man on this planet, takes his boxing career to the next level.
The fight bridges the gap between old school boxing fans and the new generation of followers.”
The source said that the fight could generate a total of $50 million in revenue.
On a previous episode of his podcast, Mike Tyson said he would fight them, and he thought they would fight him if the money was high enough:
“That is the fight for the money. Those are the money-making fights, those guys got 35 million people to watch.
Yes. Hell, I would fight them. They would fight me. That would make a lot of money.
Hundred million dollars, they do anything, they don’t mind getting beat up for a hundred million dollars.”
HOWEVER… a rep for Tyson has officially put that rumor to bed.
According to Forbes, it’s not happening.
“Jo Mignano, a representative for Tyson, called the reports ‘totally false’ and said the 55-year-old heavyweight ‘thinks the Paul brothers are great but isn’t nor will he fight either one of them.’”
Bummer…
Granted, all of these Jake/Logan Paul fights have been pretty boring, and a number of fans think we’re watching a scam unfold right in front of our eyes. But to see Mike step back in the ring for an exhibition with Jake? Hell, I’d watch…
And sure, Tyson is well beyond his prime in his older age, and he’s chilled out a good bit thanks to his new love for getting high off toad venom…
But still, we’re talking about the Problem Child and OG baddest dude on this planet.
And Mike still got it….
