Hot DAMN… 2022 is already off to a great start.

And the sole reason for that is that Kip Moore is officially releasing “Crazy One More Time” as a single to country radio this month:

And I’m not gonna sit here and say that it’s because of me, but earlier last year, I wrote a whole article about why it would be a fantastic move for him.

I mean, he had the idea long before I did, and all of us here have been patiently waiting to see if he’d really end up doing it:

The song is actually a deep cut from almost 10 years ago, when it appeared on his debut album, Up All Night. It was written by Kip with help from Aimee Mayo and Chris Lindsey, and has remained a fan-favorite ever since that record first came out.

The nostalgia he conveys about a person with whom your connection never seems to fade, no matter how much time has gone by, is a universally relatable topic… part of the reason this song has stood the test of time. He narrates the daydream of what it would be like to have one last ride with a lover from a long-gone relationship in a beautiful and alluring way, and his gritty, gravely voice just makes it all work perfectly.

Even though we’re only three days in, this is the best news I’ve heard all year. I would easily put this song in my top five favorites ever, and I can’t wait for it to hit country radio so it finally gets the attention it deserves.

I expect we’ll hear a newly recorded version, but I can confidently say that this will be one of the best songs to hit country radio in a very long time. I’m so excited that Kip’s finally getting that chance… better late than never, right?

Check out this live version from last year… Lord have mercy, I do believe Kip’s got himself another #1 on his hands:
