Say it ain’t so…

2021 just couldn’t leave without giving us one last “F you,” could it?

According to TMZ, the great Betty White has passed away at the age of 99.

“Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … Betty passed away at her home Friday morning.”

A legendary icon in movies and television, Betty began her career all the way back in 1939, and continued working in films all the way through 2019. She was recently featured as the voice of Bitey White in Toy Story 4.

Betty is of course, most famous for her lead role as Rose Nylund in The Golden Girls, a smash series that ran from 1985 to 1992.

With her 100th birthday approaching on January 17th, Betty White sat down with People Magazine to reflect on her 100 years on planet Earth, as well as her secrets to a long and happy life.

She credits her longtime happiness to being an unwavering optimist:

“I’m so lucky to be in such good health and feel so good at this age… it’s amazing. I got it from my mom, and that never changed… I always find the positive.”

But let’s be honest, when it comes to longevity, it’s all about diet and exercise… so what’s Betty’s secret? Vodka, hotdogs, and avoiding anything green.

“I try to avoid anything green. I think it’s working.”

In an interview with Parade, Betty echoed similar sentiments about diet and positivity:

“Vodka and hot dogs, probably in that order.

Accentuate the positive, not the negative… it sounds so trite, but a lot of people will pick out something to complain about, rather than say, ‘Hey, that was great!’

It’s not hard to find great stuff if you look.”

What a legend.

Betty’s 100th birthday was set to be celebrated with a 1-night-only event on January 17th.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, “Betty White: 100 Years Young — A Birthday Celebration” will follow White in her day-to-day life, including a behind-the-scenes look at her life on set, at work, and in the home.

The film will also celebrate White’s historic accomplishments in the world of TV with classic moments from “The Golden Girls,” “Saturday Night Live,” “Hot in Cleveland,” “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and even a lost episode from White’s very first sitcom.

The special will feature guest appearances from the likes of Ryan Reynolds, Tina Fey, Robert Redford, Lin Manuel- Miranda, Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, Jay Leno, Carol Burnett, Craig Ferguson, Jimmy Kimmel, and more.

RIP Betty.
