In fact, he hasn’t missed in the span of his 20 year career.
Bowen announced earlier this week that he’s gearing up to drop a brand spankin’ new EP, titled Where Phones Don’t Work, slated for November 19th.
With that being said, he dropped the first single from the EP yesterday, “When Love Comes Around.”
He made it very clear what his intentions were with this song, and the upcoming EP in general:
“While slowing down and reflecting over the past year, I felt a calling to create more uplifting music that would be exciting to incorporate into our shows, since we’re so grateful to be playing live again.
There’s a new sense of hope and a new sense of urgency with this music. I’m just so inspired again. Because of that inspiration, it created an opportunity for me to really open my writing brain, and my heart, a lot more.
I feel like I’m 25 again, starting my career — it’s almost like a new path, but now I have all the knowledge from the past 20 years. It feels good.”
It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to realize that all of 2020, and for the most part 2021 thus far, has been difficult for everybody to process.
It seems like every other day we’re receiving some kind of “doom and gloom” news, kicking everybody right back down as soon as they’ve started to get back up.
And sometimes, you just need a little encouragement:
“It has a happiness and a feel-good nature to it which I can feel when we’re playing it on stage already. The crowd just starts to smile a little bit more.
That’s the way it was when we wrote it. That was the whole point of this project — I want to lift people up. I want to make them feel good.”
A happy, uplifting, up-tempo song that allows us to all appreciate the simple things in life that we’ve taken for granted for so long.
Gotta rise when the rain comes down Gotta dance when the band’s down town Gotta get lost to get found Gotta love when love comes around
