Do not sleep on Noeline Hofmann.
Though mainstream country and country radio as a whole have failed to give female artists the time and attention they so desperately deserve — outside of the likes of Ella Langley and Lainey Wilson — the independent and alternative country scene has been nothing short of thriving off the hard work and talent of women in the genre. From Sierra Ferrell and Molly Tuttle to Kaitlin Butts and Willow Avalon, you don’t have to look far to find stellar acts.
For my money, however, few artists, regardless of their gender, are doing it better than Noeline Hofmann.
In case you’re unfamiliar with Hofmann, at just 23 years old, she has already shared the stage with some of the scene’s biggest acts, most notably Zach Bryan, the Turnpike Troubadours, and fellow Canadian Colter Wall. With just seven original songs in her catalog thus far, Hofmann’s pen has been nothing short of phenomenal to begin her career, with song content revolving heavily around the Western ranching lifestyle that she has lived her whole life in Southern Alberta.
If you’re a fan of Bryan, her name is sure to ring a bell. In addition to appearing on 2024’s The Great American Bar Scene and teaming up with him on “Purple Gas” (which Hofmann wrote independently), she also joined him for a plethora of high-profile shows in 2025, including his Golden Gate Park concert in San Francisco and his sold-out show in Dublin. Additionally, she’s recently been booked as an opener on one of the biggest artists in the mainstream, Shaboozey’s, current fall tour, Outlaws Never Die.
After releasing a phenomenal cover of Guy Clark’s “Dublin Blues” in January, Hoffmann is officially back today with her first original song of 2026, “Wilson Silverstar 402 Blues.”
In the Instagram post announcing the track, the 23-year-old singer/songwriter would reveal she wrote the track independently at her grandparents’ kitchen table. Additionally, she’d acknowledge the delay in new music but promised the song “puts a new chapter in gear.”
“I wrote it and another at my grandparents kitchen table while they were away from the farm on a rainy day last May. It was a great day off the road enjoying the moody weather and sipping on home wine right from the bucket in the pump house.
I know I’ve been ‘gone truckin’ for some time. Though I welcome you, my shotgun riders, to hop on in and roll along beside me as this song puts a new chapter into gear.”
Unsurprisingly, “Wilson Silverstar 402 Blues” is nothing short of a masterclass in songwriting from Hofmann. Like the modern-day greats in the genre, such as Bryan, Jason Isbell, Evan Felker, Tyler Childers and more, the Canadian does an incredible job painting a vivid picture of her home in Southern Alberta, making you feel like you’re in the passenger seat as she drives through the plains in the first verse.

I’m flat out, straight-shot driving a big ol’ cattle liner
Hide sticking out the ovals of the corrugated Wilson
53-foot Silverstar Tri-Axle behind me
Cowkids pump their arms as I go by
They race me riding that line

As Hofmann continues her brilliant world-building in the following verses, you become well aware that she’s trying to outrun the memory of a lost love. Feeling reminiscent of tracks from fellow Canadian, Colter Wall, the song crescendos at the back-half, which is full of some incredibly Western-inspired howls and an incredibly melodic hook.
“I locked eyes with a steer bound for glory
He told me where I was going
You’re gonna meet your maker, boy, meet your maker
Somewhere at the end of the alley”
Coming in a sprawling 4:44 runtime, the track is yet another phenomenal outing from the budding alternative country star. If you’re a fan of sharp songwriting, sultry vocals and sweet, Western melodies, “Wilson Silverstar 402 Blues” is nothing short of a must-listen.
Also… peep that familiar face in the music video. It sure looks an awful lot like the Son of San Lorenzo, Mr. Jesse Daniel.
