On Saturday, June 27th, the country music world came together at Nissan Stadium in Nashville to honor Alan Jackson with his star-studded Last Call: One More For the Road – The Finale concert. The concert immediately became one of the hottest tickets of the year — the stadium was packed, the streets were packed and a big video board was placed on Broadway for a public showing. Just about everybody in business showed up to send off one of the best to ever play the game.
Along with Alan, the show featured an all-star lineup of Eric Church, George Strait, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Riley Green, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Jake Owen, Jon Pardi, Thomas Rhett, George Strait, Carrie Underwood, Lainey Wilson and Lee Ann Womack.
The star-studded cast set the stage and delivered a plethora of deep cuts and minor hits, with Church performing “Someday,” Johnson performing “Job Description,” Combs covering “Hard Hat and a Hammer, Wilson covering “Tall, Tall Trees,” Green delivering a rendition of “Little Man” and the entire ensemble coming together for a performance of “Pop a Top.”
Of course, the living legend wrapped up his career by performing a plethora of career-defining tracks such as “Chattahoochee,” “Drive (For Daddy Gene),” “Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning),” “Remember When” and an additional 21 other hits throughout his illustrious career.
He’d also team up with the King himself, George Strait, and perform both of their collaborations over the years, “Murder on Music Row” and “Designated Drinker.”
Simply put, there could not have been a better, more fitting send-off for one of the most influential artists in the genre, who has 19 ACM Awards, 17 CMA Awards, two Grammys, 50 Top 10 hits and 35 #1 hits. And it was just immortalized in music history last week when it became the highest-grossing concert in HISTORY, netting a staggering $34.729 million.
In case you missed it, shortly after the historic night, Jackson and Co. officially announced that a live album capturing the entirety of his final concert was in the works, titled Last Call: One More For The Road. Upon its announcement, the details were a bit unclear regarding its official release and tracklist, with the only information surrounding the album being that the CD was $14.98 and the shipping date was December 31st.
Today, however, we know when the live album is slated to hit streaming services.
Given that it’s the 25th anniversary of 9/11, Jackson decided to drop a live version of “Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning” from the historic night. Upon the song’s release, both Apple Music and Spotify are now slating Last Call: One More For The Road’s release date for Friday, December 4th.
Additionally, the entire setlist has been revealed. As speculated, it will contain all 25 songs that the “Gone Country” singer performed at Nissan Stadium. One thing to note is that the aforementioned covers from the likes of Church, Combs, Johnson and Wilson will not be included on the album, instead focusing on just Jackson’s set.
