Morgan Wallen bagged and tagged an impressive 8-point buck to kick off his 2026. Now, thanks to a video from Drury Outdoors, we get to see exactly how it played out.
There’s no question about it… country stars love to hunt. Although, they oddly catch a lot of heat for it lately, Cody Johnson has proudly shared photos of some of the beasts he’s brought down, as has Chase Rice. And Luke Combs is an avid deer hunter that often shares about his big-time hunts. Ella Langley, Evan Felker… the list goes on and on and one.
The arguable biggest name in country music also loves to get out into the great outdoors, but often doesn’t have much time to dedicate to the hobby… that’d be Morgan Wallen.
The country music star evidently appreciates the company and hospitality of the Drury Outdoors crew. He often goes out to them when he’s wanting to turkey hunt or track down a big deer, and has done so basically every year since 2022. And it’s a win-win-win for everybody really. Wallen usually doesn’t go home empty handed, the outdoors and sporting goods company gets to hang out with one of the biggest stars on the planet.
And on top of that, fans of Wallen get to see how their favorite country star handles the hunt.
Back in January of this year, Morgan Wallen had a short window to hunt the Iowa deer camp (about five days), and the Drury Outdoors crew – led by accomplished hunter and outdoors personality Mark Drury – pulled out all of the stops to make it a successful trip. They didn’t have great weather days while Wallen was there, and only had a limited amount of time before the season was over. So they got very strategic with their approach… and it worked out swimmingly for them.
After seeing a number of deer during the first couple of hunts, and dealing with heavy fog and frost that seemed to interrupt the feeding of the deer in the area, Wallen and Drury were eventually in the right spot at the right time. A group of doe got spooked by something tracking them, and sure enough, the country music star and his hunting guide watched a massive 8-point buck reveal itself right in front of the blind they were hunting.

“Morgan Wallen is back in camp for another hunt, but this time there’s no room for error. With only a few days to hunt, Morgan and the crew lock down a farm with incredible access and settle in to hunt the same spot morning and evening. The weather isn’t cooperating, with warm temperatures keeping deer movement slow. Day after day, they sit and wait for one of their target bucks to finally make an appearance. Then, one evening, one of the bucks steps into the field at legal light—but with no shot available, they have to watch him walk away.
A few evenings later, everything changes. A giant, tall-tined 8-point they’ve been hoping to see makes his way into the field. Morgan gets the opportunity they’ve been waiting for, and after the shot, the crew backs out and returns for an unforgettable recovery and celebration.

And if this story feels a little deja-vu-ish, that’s because the country star behind hits like “Last Night” and “I Had Some Help” actually kicked off last year (2025) with a successful hunt in Iowa.
Seems like Wallen is just making a yearly tradition out of his trip to the “Hawkeye State” to down himself a big buck.
