Tied for the second-longest #1 in history.
As we sit in 2026, there’s simply no denying that Ella Langley is the hottest star in country music. Launching off the success of her Riley Green collaboration, “you look like you love me” throughout 2024 and 2025, as well as other hits such as “weren’t for the wind,” the Alabama native has become nothing short of a phenomenon thanks to the megahit that is “Choosin’ Texas,” And, in turn, she has captured the hearts of nearly everyone in the country over the past year.
As it stands today, “Choosin’ Texas” is the longest-running #1 hit by a female country artist on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, the only country song by a woman to triple up and go #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Hot Country and Country Airplay charts simultaneously and now the tied for the second-longest-running hit in U.S. HISTORY.
In case that wasn’t enough, thanks to the success of her sophomore album, Dandelion, which debuted at #1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 and sold 169,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week, Langley became just the second woman in history to hold the #1 album and song in the U.S. simultaneously with a country song/album. Of course, Taylor Swift was the first, going #1 with Red (Taylor’s Version) and “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” back in 2021.
She’d make even more history back on May 18th when “Choosin’ Texas” spent its 10th week at #1 on the Hot 100 and “Be Her” held strong at #2 for a second straight week. In turn, she became the first country artist in history to hold the Top 2 songs in the United States simultaneously for more than one week. This broke her out a tie with Morgan Wallen, who became the first country artist to do so upon the release of I’m The Problem last May, when he owned the top three songs with “What I Want,” “Just in Case” and “I’m the Problem.”
The last month has been particularly historic for Langley and the smash hit. With “Choosin’ Texas” spending its 15th and 16th weeks at #1, it became the longest-running #1 hit by a female artist this CENTURY. In case that wasn’t enough, she helped the genre make history when only country songs made up the Top 5 on the Hot 100 last week, including the likes of Morgan Wallen’s brand-new single, “Been By Now,” Taylor Swift’s return to country music, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” from Toy Story 5, Langley and Wallen’s collaboration, “I Can’t Love You Anymore” and Stella Lefty’s controversial viral hit, “Boston.”
Fresh off a huge weekend in Little Rock that saw Drake singing along to the smash hit and subsequently linking up with the Alabama native, this week, Choosin’ Texas” remained at #1 for its 19th frame, garnering 24.3 million official streams, 55.7 million airplays on radio and 7,000 units sold.
With this, she is now tied for the second-longest-running #1 hit in terms of weeks spent at the top, tying Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road.” Of course, she is now only trailing Mariah Carey’s holiday classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” which has remained the longest in history at 22 weeks. Additionally, “Choosin’ Texas” is now officially tied for the longest-running non-holiday #1 hit in U.S. history.
As usual, Langley continues to dominate other Billboard charts as well. This week, the hit song also topped Songs of the Summer (12th week), Digital Song Sales (16th week), Streaming Songs (19th week) and Hot Country Songs (37th week), which extends its record for the third-longest in its history.
As of this morning, “Choosin’ Texas” is projected to score its 20th frame at #1 next week by over 75 points. With this, Langley will gain sole possession of the second-longest-running #1 hit in U.S. history and, in turn, dethrone Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” as the biggest country hit of all time. In case that wasn’t enough, some chart forecasters on X (formerly Twitter), such as Talk of the Charts, project the track may hit as many as 26 weeks atop the Hot 100. Simply put, there is a real likelihood that “Choosin’ Texas” becomes the biggest hit in American history by the time its run is over.
