Brad Paisley Is Reaching Into The Vault With New Project, “Tacklebox”

New music from Brad Paisley is finally on the horizon.

Brad Paisley has long been one of the most talented artists in country music. With guitar work on par with the likes of John Mayer and songwriting that will simultaneously make you laugh and cry, the “Whiskey Lullaby” singer has cemented himself as a cornerstone of country music in the 2000s and 2010s. Couple that with 19 #1 hits, nine #1 albums and over two dozen RIAA certifications, Paisley has a long history of success in the genre over the past three decades.

Despite his status as one of the best guitarists in country music history, one of the most slept-on songwriters in the mainstream and how popular he was not that long ago, it’s been a LONG time since we’ve received a full-length project from the West Virginia native.

Though he’s dropped some singles over the past few years, namely “Raining Inside” with Dawes in 2025 and “Truck Still Works” in 2024, it’s been a staggering nine years since his last album, Love and War, back in 2017. In the fall of 2023, it seemed as if Paisley was gearing up for a new album, dropping the all-but-forgotten Son Of The Mountains: The First Four Tracks EP, which contained the underrated, bluegrass-inspired “The Medicine Will” and the highly controversial “Same Here” with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy. However, nearly three years later, it’s safe to say a full Son Of The Mountains project is all but scrapped.

After taking to social media over the weekend to tease a new project, Paisley would officially announce that he has a brand new collection of songs set to release over the coming weeks — and he’s digging into the vault to find them.

Instead of releasing an album full of new tracks, Paisley is recording and re-recording a collection of never-before-heard songs that he’s been holding on to for years now. Describing Tacklebox as “never-ending,” the “I’m Gonna Miss Her” singer would explain that the project will capture an incredibly traditional sound that harkens back to when he first debuted back in the late ’90s. Additionally, he’d note that more songs will be released in the coming weeks.

“I see this ‘project’ as never-ending. It’s almost like the fans have a direct link to my Dropbox or to a playlist that never ends. We are calling it ‘Tacklebox’ because it’s a box full of hooks, country lyric hooks. In this digital age, I have every song I’ve ever written at my fingertips. This project gave us a license to dig back into the catalog of songs that were never released, that feel like a time period, a style of writing, a sound, and nostalgia.

We went back into the studio to record or re-record at The Castle in Franklin, TN, the same place where several of my first few albums were recorded. When I first started writing and recording music, I couldn’t have dreamed of the ability to put something out instantly for the fans.”

To kick things off today, he released his first track of the year with “Fallin’,” which he described as “love in the ‘90s.” And I have to say, he’s not wrong. I admittedly have a lot of nostalgia for Paisley, given he was one of my favorite artists growing up in the 2000s, but this is a rock-solid song through and through. Unlike some of his more recent releases prior to his hiatus over the years, it’s an undeniably classic love song — complete with some solid piano, twangy guitar work and a nice inclusion of fiddle throughout.

In addition to the brand new single and project, he’d also announce a headlining tour for the late summer and early fall with none other than the red-hot traditionalist himself, Jake Worthington. Hitting the likes of Boston, Milwaukee, Houston, Fort Lauderdale and more, Paisley will be hitting 12 different cities during the brief tour. You can view the dates below.
