Gotta be more specific there.
Oklahoma meteorologist Lacey Swope had to issue a clarification when she asked people to send in their “measurements” – obviously asking for snowfall totals, but getting a lot more than she bargained for.
A historic snow and ice storm hit the south this weekend and caused chaos all the way from eastern New Mexico up through New England.
Places like Fort Worth, Texas, which obviously doesn’t see snow very often, got up to three inches of snow this weekend, and parts of Oklahoma got over 6 inches along with ice and freezing rain.
Here in Nashville we ended up only getting about 3 inches of snow, but an overnight ice storm that dropped about half an inch of ice (and counting) on Music City has left nearly 200,000 people without power (luckily mine’s still on, and I hope it stays that way) and wrecks all over the place as people foolishly try to navigate the icy roads.
Swope, the meteorologist for News9 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, took to social media to ask viewers in the area to send in their “measurements,” meaning how much snow they had received. But unfortunately, she wasn’t specific enough – and got a lot more than she bargained for:
“I would, but you know how cold it is….”
“Suckers an inny right now bud,I’ma have to chub em up a little to get an accurate measurement..”
“36DD”
“Well, that’s awfully personal!”
“7” with a lil girth. The show me state”
“5’8” or 5’10 depending on which convenience store I’m at…”
“Many will say they are a “grower not a shower”, especially when cold”
“32/26/24”
“Man inches or real inches?”
“Well I’m a 10 narrow and medium shirt”
“That seems kind of personal”
“I’m 5’11” in okc”
“40 waist/40 inseam”
“6′, 220lbs and shaped like a pear. Really not sure why you wanted to know?”
“Too cold to get an accurate measurement.”
“This feels like a 2003 AOL chatroom topic starter”
“All the men will say 6″+”
Ok, that’s hilarious.
Fortunately for Lacey she quickly realized her mistake and clarified on her original post that she wanted SNOW measurements:
“Thank you for all the body measurements. Super helpful in my search. Just to clarify, I was looking for a measurement in inches of the depth of snow in your yard.”
And she seemed to take the jokes in stride. In her comments, Lacey mentioned that her family got a good laugh about it:
“Yall are hilarious! A family member text me just now and said, “really Lacey??!””
Later during her broadcast, she also took a minute to make sure viewers knew what she was asking for:
“I made the mistake on Facebook, I asked for your measurements, I meant your snow measurements. Thank you for everybody sending in your measurements, but I do prefer how much snow you have on the ground.”

Be careful what you ask for. You know how people on the internet are. Let’s just hope she doesn’t have her DMs open too.
