You love to see it.
We’re only 24 days from the Daytona 500 and the official start of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season, but Greg Biffle will no doubt be heavy on everyone’s minds as they head back to the track.
The longtime Cup Series driver passed away back on December 18, 2025 in a plane crash at the Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina, and since then tributes have been pouring in from the NASCAR community and those who knew the Biff personally.
A memorial service was held for Biffle, along with the six other victims of the plane crash, last week at the Bojangles Coliseum in his home state of North Carolina. And RFK Racing, the team that Biffle drove for during his NASCAR career (back when it was Roush Racing, and ultimately Roush Fenway Racing before becoming RFK Racing), also announced a new Greg Biffle exhibit at their race shop.
But that’s not all the team is doing to honor their former driver.
RFK Racing announced today that all of their cars will sport his iconic number font during the Daytona 500:
The team will have four cars racing in the Great American Race, including the #6 car of team owner Brad Keselowski, the #17 car of Chris Buescher, the #60 car of Ryan Preece, and the #99 car which will be a one-off entry for veteran Cup Series driver Corey LaJoie.
In addition to RFK, Kaulig Racing also announced that their #16 car driven by AJ Allmendinger will carry the Biffle font for the Daytona 500.
The 16 is, of course, the number that Biffle ran for his entire Cup Series career, winning 19 races over 14 full-time seasons in the #16 car.
Kaulig Racing CEO Chris Rice said the tribute was only fitting given Biffle’s history with the #16:
“Greg Biffle made the No. 16 famous and was a true friend to Kaulig Racing and the whole racing community. This is our way of honoring his incredible career and the person he was. When AJ Allmendinger drives this car at Daytona, we hope fans remember Greg, his family, and all the great memories he gave us.”
In addition to the Daytona 500, RFK Racing will honor Biffle starting at the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray, a preseason exhibition event, where every car will carry a special decal in honor of the Biff. The decals, which read “The Biff 16, In Loving Memory of Greg Biffle,” will remain on the cars throughout the 2026 season.

During the Clash, NASCAR will also be painting the RFK Racing memorial decal in the infield of Bowman Gray Stadium.
Speaking on the tributes, Keselowski praised Biffle for his contributions to the team:
“Greg Biffle was more than a championship driver, he was family. He helped shape who we are as an organization, and his legacy is woven into this team’s history. Returning to the iconic numeric font that defined so much of his career, and adding the season long decal to each car, are meaningful ways for us to honor Greg and carry his spirit. We can’t bring him back, but we can honor him on the track the best way we know how, all season long.”
And team owner Jack Roush, who gave Biffle his shot in NASCAR all those years ago, released an emotional statement honoring his former driver:
“Greg Biffle was one of the most special drivers I’ve ever had the privilege of working with. He gave everything he had to this organization, and together we shared some of the proudest moments in our history. Honoring Greg this season is deeply personal for all of us, and it’s important that we remember the role he played in building this team and the standard he helped set.”
The team says that further tributes to Biffle are still being considered and will be announced at a later date. But man, it’s going to be cool to see all those RFK Racing cars, and the #16 car, driving that iconic font that Biffle made so famous during his time in the sport.
Hurry up, Daytona. I’m ready for some racing.
