No surprise that Morgan Wallen won’t be at an awards show… but at least we know where he is instead this time around.
Most of country music’s biggest stars are currently in Frisco, Texas for the 60th Annual ACM Awards. The 2025 edition of the show is hosted by the great Reba McEntire, and the night’s festivities feature plenty of awards to be given away, and a number of big-time performances from names like Chris Stapleton, Wynonna Judd, Eric Church, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Megan Maroney, Zach Top, and Lainey Wilson… just to name a few.
Someone that you won’t see at the ACM Awards? That’d be Morgan Wallen. He’s only second to Ella Langley for total award nominations at the 60th annual event… yet he’s not among the list of performers for the night. To take things a step further, Wallen won’t even be in attendance. You’d think that with the release of his new record, I’m The Problem, just over a week away, gracing the stage of the ACMs (or even just being there) might make for a good press opportunity.
That being said, Wallen has historically not been one to do award shows. Of course, he was essentially blackballed from the industry for a while, but since then, he’s seemed to make a point that he doesn’t need to do the whole song and dance… and he doesn’t.
He didn’t even attend the CMA Awards, and the country music star ended up winning the Entertainer of the Year Award. Might’ve been cool to be there for that moment, right? Entertainer of the Year is a big deal, is it not? That is unless you are Morgan Wallen, who increasingly seems to be over the whole awards show thing.
And it appears that as the rest of the country music greats descends on Frisco, Texas, Morgan Wallen is hanging out with one of the GOATs… just not one of GOATs of country music. Judging by Wallen’s Instagram story, the “Ain’t That Some” singer skipped out on the 2025 ACM Awards. What’s he up to instead?
Well playing golf with Tom Brady, of course. Timing of that post seems pretty intentional too…

Man wouldn’t that cool to zip around the golf course with the one and only Tom Brady? Sure, it’s not the sport that made him a world famous superstar, but Tom’s got a golf game that’s nothing to sneeze at (he should only be getting better in retirement). And it looks like Wallen and Brady were still able to fit in some football throwing out on the course.
All that being said… and to steal a line from the great Rick Pitino, Morgan Wallen isn’t walking through that door. He’s too busy teeing it up with Touchdown Tom.
The 60th ACM Awards are once again streaming exclusively on Prime Video (much to the chagrin of many). And the Academy of Country Music will be celebrating their milestone 60th year, solidifying their title of the longest running country music awards show. Undoubtedly a big moment… though not big enough to draw Morgan Wallen off the golf course.
2025 ACM Awards or golfing with Tom Brady? I could see why that might be a not-so-tough decision for Morgan. And I don’t blame him for a second.
