Somebody Pretending To Be An NFL Team Prank Called Shedeur Sanders While He Was Waiting To Be Drafted: “Have To Wait A Little Longer”

That’s not cool…

As I’m writing this, we’re 7 picks away from the end of round 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft, and Shedeur Sanders is STILL waiting on a call from his next team.

Sanders has gotten by far the most attention in a quarterback class that didn’t have any real superstars like it has in years past. Despite only leading the Buffaloes to a 13-11 record during his two seasons at Colorado, Sanders recently had his number retired by the school and has been one of the most talked-about players in the draft.

Sanders was at one point expected to be a top five draft pick, with teams like the Titans, the Las Vegas Raiders, the New York Giants, the New Orleans Saints and the Pittsburgh Steelers all in the market for a new quarterback.

But the son of Colorado coach Deion Sanders seemed to see his draft stock drop after the NFL Combine, when there were rumors that coaches saw him as “arrogant” and unprofessional during his interviews with teams.

One anonymous assistant coach even reportedly said that his interview with the team was the worst he’s ever seen:

“He’s so entitled. He takes unnecessary sacks. He never plays on time. He has horrible body language. He blames teammates. … But the biggest thing is, he’s not that good.”

It was a surprise when he dropped out of the first round, with teams that need a quarterback all opting to go a different route. But seeing him go undrafted so far on night two has everybody wondering what in the world is going on.

It’s an unprecedented slide for somebody who was predicted to be a top 5 pick, and at this point you can’t help but feel for Sanders who is no doubt rethinking everything that happened during the NFL Combine.

But as he sits and waits for the call from a team, somebody apparently got ahold of his phone number and decided to pull a cruel prank on the future NFL QB.

Video shows the moment someone called Sanders pretending to be an NFL team exec, asking Sanders how he was doing:

“Good, been waiting on you.”

And the prankster replied back:

“Gonna have to wait a little longer.”

Sanders was obviously confused by the call, wondering how somebody got his number.

But at this point, the quarterback is still waiting and facing the very real prospect of dropping into (at least) the fourth round.

Earlier this evening, Sanders even got a strong endorsement from President Donald Trump, who called NFL owners “stupid” for passing on the Colorado QB:

“What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID? Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart! Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness. He should be “picked” IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN. Good luck Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!”

Of course it’s funny to see Trump pushing for Sanders to get drafted after so many (including former Congressman Jamaal Bowman) have gone so far as to call the NFL “racist” for not taking Shedeur in round one (despite the fact that the first pick in the draft was a black quarterback).

But it seems that even Trump’s endorsement wasn’t enough to convince NFL teams to take a chance on Sanders. (A tackle from William & Mary just got taken ahead of the QB…tough times in the Sanders war room).

Patriots Draft Pick Goes Viral For Sounding Exactly Like Forrest Gump

This guy is going to be perfect for Mike Vrabel.

After getting fired by the Tennessee Titans following the 2023 season, Vrabel is back on the NFL sideline as the head coach of the New England Patriots. And I’m not a Titans fan, but obviously I followed them pretty closely living here in Nashville and I became a BIG Mike Vrabel fan.

The fiery coach is the kind of guy who makes you want to run through a brick wall. An old-school, hard-nosed coach who’s not particularly flashy but gets you fired up with his intensity and passion.

And I think he just landed the perfect first-round pick with his new team.

With the fifth pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Patriots chose Will Campbell, an offensive tackle from Louisiana State University who spent his entire college career with the Tigers before declaring for the draft. During his time at LSU, Campbell was first team All-SEC, a consensus All-American, and in 2024 he won the Jacobs Trophy for the top lineman in the SEC. Just a hard-edged blocker that’ll be perfect for a team like the Patriots that need a ton of help on the offensive line.

Campbell immediately won over Pats fans with his teary interview after being drafted, when asked what kind of tone he hoped to set for the offensive line when it comes to protecting quarterback Drake Maye:

“I’m gonna fight and die to protect him with everything I got.”

Talk about getting you fired up.

But during his interview with ESPN, it was Maye’s accent that got everybody’s attention – and immediately began drawing comparisons to Forrest Gump:

I love it.

Of course Forrest Gump was from Mobile, Alabama, while Campbell is from Monroe, Louisiana. And as someone who used to live in Louisiana I can tell you that he sounds exactly like pretty much everybody else down there, and those are the kind of people you want on your side when you suit up for battle.

And Campbell couldn’t stop talking about what it meant to him to be drafted by the Patriots:

“That logo speaks for itself, but Coach Vrabel is a guy who I want to play for. He’s a football guy, no BS, and I’ve loved everything that everybody in that building’s about since the first time I stepped in there. So it’s a complete honor to be able to have this hat on right now.”

For his part, Vrabel sounded equally excited (but much less Cajun) in his comments on Campbell, calling it a “very easy pick” and saying that their new offensive tackle is going to be a “foundational piece” of the team going forward.

As much as I hate the Patriots, sounds like they got themselves a great pick.

Remember When The NFL Draft Ruined A Bunch Of Bachelorette Parties In Nashville?

The draft is in Green Bay this year, so it’s probably not interfering with too many bachelorette parties. But back in 2019, when the draft was in Nashville, a lot of visiting brides-to-be apparently didn’t do their research and ended up with a big surprise when they got to Music City to celebrate.

At the time, an interview with two girls in particular went mega viral, as they explained how they had no clue the draft was happening and would quite literally take over Broadway, where they’d hoped to drink and bar hop without hundreds of thousands of other football fans also taking over.

In total over the three-day period, over 600,000 fans attended the draft, and it was truly a mob of people so I can imagine how it would be frustrating to navigate regardless of the reason that you were there:

But I can just imagine the shattered expectations of the girls in matching pink cowboy hates getting out the Uber at Tootsie’s, only to see NFL Draft signs plastered everywhere and coming to the quick realization that this weekend would be way more about football than celebrating Brittany and Brad’s big day… and hey, I’m not judging them for being upset, but as a girl who loves football and watches the draft every year, I can’t help but laugh at the entire situation. I don’t blame them for being annoyed, but it’s still hilarious…

One bachelorette even claimed that her husband would be the one to pay for their lack of planning and wouldn’t be allowed to watch football in the fall.

“The person who is going to pay for this is my husband when I refuse to watch football the entire season. Like, I’m talking no Super Bowl. You only get married once, how often does the draft happen? Every year.”

Not even the Super Bowl? YIKES… I can only imagine the hell he had to pay when she got home, and I can’t help but wonder how that marriage is going now.

The interview that stole the show is still as funny as ever, and I hope any future brides check the draft location if you have a trip planned for April in any city going forward, because the location does tend to change year-to-year these days.

And future husbands, you might really want to make sure your girls trip doesn’t overlap with a draft weekend, because not being able to watch the Super Bowl could be grounds for a divorce…
