At least his fall made some other people’s night.
As a performing musician, it’s their destiny to take at least one tumble throughout their career. Everyone will fall publicly at some point, whether it’s on stage during their performance, afterward waving to fans, or even tripping while walking onto the stage. And if you’re an artist reading this article thinking to yourself, “Oh, that hasn’t happened to me yet,” not to cast a voodoo spell on you, but I’m pretty certain it will at some point.
And when that time comes when you see your face falling toward the ground, all you can hope is that it’s a fall you can quickly recover from. Or pull an Ernest and force yourself to recover even when it’s a terrible tumble.
Former American Idol winner, Scotty McCreery, has taken a tumble in his career before, and during a recent show, he was reminded how humbling it is. While opening up for Kane Brown, the “Fall of Summer” singer really did have the first fall of summer, tripping over his monitor and landing on his back on stage.
McCreery posted the moment to his social media, noting that the stage won that night:
“The Stage: 1
Me: 0″
After catching himself with his wrist, he rolled over and did not miss a beat to end the song. Even though he was back on his feet in a number of seconds, he still poked fun at himself, asking the audience:
“Who put that there?”
After the show, he and his band debriefed the moment, with McCreery noting that he hadn’t done that in a while.
“I haven’t done that in a minute. Right on my wrist like…”
After checking to make sure that McCreery was okay and didn’t need to see a doctor for his wrist, there was no better way to make light of a fall than to ask his band members to react to it.
All his band and crew noted that his fall was the highlight of their night.
“Scotty falling.”
“Probably him falling. Yeah, for sure.”
“I’m the last person that had to go to the hospital from falling down, so when I saw Scotty do it, I was a little concerned. Glad he didn’t hurt himself. But it was just a little enjoyable.”
At least he brushed it off with that recovery.
Scotty got ahead of the laughs by posting this video, joining his fans in laughter about the moment. Even Chris Lane chimed in that he’s been in the same boat.

“Highlight of the night was Scotty getting back up, c’mon now!”
“Been there a million times.”
“Thank you for keeping it real from the Middle Aged Mom who just laid down her Vespa type scooter on a dirt road while wearing shorts.”
“That was an iconic moment. You played it off so well!!!!!”
“It happens to the best of us. I’d still be lying there!”
“Glad you were ok how you kept on going.”
This might be the stage “Fall of (the) Summer.” Fire it up while you’re here.
