Sounds like the Kamala Harris appearance on the Joe Rogan Podcast isn’t happening.
Last week, former President and current GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump set the internet on fire with his appearance on the wildly popular Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
Trump sat with Rogan in his Austin studio for a 3-hour, wide-ranging interview that covered everything from nuclear energy to computer chips to the UFC. And I’m pretty sure he would have kept going all day if he didn’t have a rally to fly off to.
The podcast has racked up over 38 million views on YouTube alone, and who knows how many streams on platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts. So naturally, that presented the question: Will his opponent, Vice President and Democrat nominee Kamala Harris, also be sitting down with Rogan for an interview?
Well it appears that the answer is no.
During his conversation with Trump, the host admitted that he would like to have Kamala on as well, to have a conversation with both candidates. But her campaign manager last week hinted that it’s probably not going to happen, and Rogan took to Twitter yesterday to pull back the curtain on his behind-the-scenes conversations with the Harris campaign:
“Also, for the record the Harris campaign has not passed on doing the podcast. They offered a date for Tuesday, but I would have had to travel to her and they only wanted to do an hour. I strongly feel the best way to do it is in the studio in Austin. My sincere wish is to just have a nice conversation and get to know her as a human being. I really hope we can make it happen.”

As it turns out, Harris was willing to do the podcast, but only on her own schedule and terms: Rogan would have to fly to her, and the interview would be limited to an hour.
If you’ve listened to Rogan, you know that his podcasts can easily run 2, 3, even 4 hours sometimes. He likes to have deep conversations with his guests, and they’re always filmed inside his Austin, Texas studio – just like Trump’s was.
Rogan says he’s not willing to meet the campaign’s demands in order to have Harris on the podcast, so it seems like the appearance isn’t going to happen. But Kamala’s supporters aren’t happy that Rogan isn’t willing to change things up in order to interview the Vice President:
with a straight face, a podcast host says he is unwilling to travel for an interview with the vice president of the united states of america and democratic nominee for president https://t.co/Q83fnWUPEK

Here’s how it’s done, @joerogan:
If YOU ask for the interview, YOU GO TO THEM if they’re working on the road. (Say, attempting to save democracy.)
I’ve been a reporter for 30 years clocking 10,000 stories. You’re podcaster w/a portable mic.
Go get that interview, champ.

Come on @joerogan . It’s the last week of the campaign! She’s a little busier than you. Get on a (private) plane and do the interview, even if just for an hour. Americans want to hear it. https://t.co/juOUPMDdQN

genuinely dude she is the Vice President of the United States and you are a podcaster. this is absolute diva behavior https://t.co/WZhrz9vF0Z

You’re a podcaster, bro. Get on an airplane. https://t.co/zgAyjjeqHc

I feel like it is entirely normal that you have to travel to the Vice President. https://t.co/2NctH1aYQs

Demanding a VP come to you in final week of campaign sort of says it all. A reliable side product of steroid abuse is feeling of self-importance and omnipotence. https://t.co/Rtd8rOBj9W

Podcaster has the opportunity to interview the VP of the United States a week before the election but insists she travels to his studio.
You can’t make this ish up. https://t.co/JCVdF8s7bD

joe rogan expecting harris to travel to his studio for a 3 hour interview in the last 7 days of the election is actually insane

Many cite her busy schedule during this last week of the campaign as a reason that Rogan should have to travel to Harris to record the podcast.
Let’s take a look at her schedule today:
Her insanely busy schedule involves doing jack shit until 7:30 this evening. https://t.co/bpAz12BE3i pic.twitter.com/H4lr3TZlUY

Yeah I see why she couldn’t fit him in.
And let’s be honest, Rogan doesn’t really need Harris on his podcast as much as she needs him. He signed a $250 million deal with Spotify, and his podcasts regularly get a million views on YouTube alone. He has a platform that could provide her exposure to millions and millions of people, and his listeners are largely in the male demographic that she’s been struggling with. You’d think she would be doing anything she could to get herself in front of them.
FWIW these terms are not unique for Rogan – his podcast format is in studio, multiple hours. He’s got a #1 podcast & a $250 million contract, he can decide the terms 🤷♀️ Harris can decide she doesn’t want to do it, which is fine, but Rogan didn’t change his format for Trump either https://t.co/x18TTtkaOH

Regardless, this late in the game, it seems the interview with Harris isn’t going to happen – although the Trump campaign seems more than happy to fly to Austin for the exposure, with VP nominee JD Vance set to appear on an episode of the podcast later this week.
