49 Winchester may have just made their Red Rocks Amphitheatre debut as an opening act, but I’d bet they’ll be headlining that stage before too long.
Keeping the party going after a set buy Hayes Carll and warming up the crowd for one of country music’s hottest acts in Shane Smith & the Saints, 49 Winchester played the legendary venue for the first time in their careers as part of what appeared to be a magical night outside of Denver, CO. A bucket list venue for both musicians and music fans alike, I’m sure the fellas from Castlewood, Virginia were equally as excited to cross this one off of their list as were the fans in the crowd singing their music back to them.
And for good reason. If you’ve ever been to Red Rocks, you know their is a unique aura that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. There’s nothing like climbing up those steps to convene alongside music fans from all across the globe amidst the iconic red rocks. With the Denver lights emerging from the Colorado landscape as the sun sets and headliners take the stage, the experience and aura surrounding the venue is just something everyone needs to experience at some point.
Luckily for those of us who weren’t able to make it to the show on Tuesday, 49 Winchester has since shared some flicks and clips to social media that give us a glimpse of what we missed and let us in on what I can only imagine was a surreal moment for one of the hardest working bands in music.
And they even shared an awesome clip from their performance of “Annabel,” a fan favorite off of their most recent record Fortune Favors the Bold.
This Shane Smith & the Saints show with 49 Winchester and Hayes Carll kicked off an all-time week for country music in the Denver area, as Danno Simpson took the stage at Denver’s Star Bar on Wednesday to bridge the gap before Turnpike Troubadour’s two night sold out stint at Red Rocks with support from the likes of The Red Clay Strays, American Aquarium, Wyatt Flores, and Sierra Hull.
What a time to be alive.
