‘The Simpsons’ Once Again Predict The Future, Nail The Ted Cruz Mexico Trip Fiasco

It’s pretty wild how accurately The Simpsons have predicted the future over the years.

The Super Bowl, Siegfried and Roy tiger attack, the presidential election of Donald Trump, auto-correct, smart watches, Ebola, the United States winning a curling gold medal, Lady Gaga, Game of Thrones, Kamala Harris’ Inauguration Day outfit… the list of correct predictions goes on and on and on.

And even more recently, in a 1993 episode titled “Marge in Chains” (season 4, episode 21) an unknown virus from Asia that invades the Simpsons’ hometown of Springfield. Dubbed the “Osaka Flu” it spreads rapidly through town, similar to Coronavirus. The citizens congregate outside of Dr. Hibbert’s clinic demanding a vaccine, and when they tip over a truck, guess what’s inside… KILLER BEES.

An Asian virus, angry mobs and murder hornets… they pretty much summed up Coronavirus all in ONE EPISODE.

And now it appears as though they have correctly nailed the Ted Cruz Mexico debacle as well.

In that very same episode, “Marge In Chains,” Springfield’s Mayor Quimby holds a press conference telling the citizens that he has canceled his trip to The Bahamas to help combat the pandemic. As it turns out, he’s standing in swim trunks, giving the speech from The Bahamas.

Kinda, almost exactly, like how Texas Senator Ted Cruz took off to Mexico during the insane winter storms last week. He claimed he wanted to chaperone his daughters down there and then he would return to Texas immediately, however according to text message conversations between his wife and friends (sounds like a snitch in the group), it appeared to be a trip to ditch the freezing temps. After he was spotted at the airport on Wednesday, he returned Thursday night. He later called the trip a “mistake.”

Twitter had a field day with the memes.

Yep, pretty spot on. And regardless of your political affiliations, it’s pretty damn funny.

The Simpson have done it again.
