Riley Green & Peyton Manning Team Up For A Surprise Duet Ahead Of The Alabama-Tennessee Game

Riley Green Peyton Manning

Just in time for the big game.

Today, on the heels of releasing his new album That’s Just Me a couple weeks ago, Riley Green put out a new song featuring Tennessee Volunteers legend Peyton Manning. Yes, you read that right, Peyton is singing…

Riley’s album features a pretty lengthy 19-song tracklist. It also features collaborations with Hannah McFarland, Jake Worthington, Alabama’s Randy Owen, and my personal favorite, Brooks & Dunn.

Riley’s career hahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLECYvOdQPQs blown up over the last several years, and while all artists evolve, he hasn’t changed who he is fundamentally as an artist. Fans can always count on him to deliver really quality songs with beautiful lyrics and great production, and that’s what he delivered here.

In addition to consistently putting out great music, Riley is an artist who basically stays on the road year round, and I think that has a lot to do with his current success. He’s spent years and years putting on shows all over the country, earning fans by delivering concerts that never disappoint, and I think that organic connection with his fans is paying off in a huge way now.

To give you an example of just how popular he’s become, Riley earned his highest charting album ever and first ever top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart as That’s Just Me came in at #3 on the all-genre chart, and he’s continuing to release new music even though the album just came out.

This new one is fittingly called “Alabama Vs. Tennessee,” which Riley put out just in time for the Tennessee versus Alabama rivalry game this weekend, also referred to as the Third Saturday in October, on October 17th at 3:30 p.m. ET at Neyland Stadium.

Written by Riley along with frequent collaborators Erik Dylan and Wyatt McCubbin, it finds Riley and Manning trading lines about the two teams, but ultimately, finding common ground in their love of the game:

“Well, we can joke, give each other hell
I can yell ‘Roll Tide’
And sing ‘Rocky Top’ all night
Them Vols gonna take it all this year
Yeah…
I heard them ‘Bama boys looking pretty damn tough
But that orange and white’s a million bucks
Alright, alright, I say the loser buys a beer
Get your money out

I think this world could learn a thing or two
From a couple good ol’ boys like me and you
I’m proud to pull for Knoxville
It’s about time for the Tide to take the field
We out here in the same bar now
Maybe different sides, but we’re setting up rounds
Man, it ain’t you going up against me,
It’s just Alabama versus Tennessee”

Riley also mentions the Alabama versus Tennessee rivalry in his song “Hell Of A Way To Go,” and it always gets a massive reaction from fans, and I’m sure they’ll go even crazier over this one. Riley has said before that he’s an Auburn fan, but he was born and raised in Alabama so he obviously knows plenty about the passionate Tide fans and their long-standing rivalry with Tennessee.

I never would have imagined Peyton manning actually singing on a country song, and obviously he’s no professional and kind of talk-sings his lines, but it’s all in good fun and they certainly dropped the perfect song for the Alabama and Tennessee fans this weekend. Who could he have featured on this song other than Peyton? They had to do it…

They also dropped a music video, which finds them hanging out in a honky tonk talking singing about their teams. Check it out:
