Don’t think we’ll be getting any more duets from these two any time soon.
Ella Langley and Riley Green were a powerhouse duo in country music for a while, both on the charts and on tour. And of course there was plenty of tabloid fodder and online speculation about a romantic relationship between the two, but there’s no doubt that they had a great run together professionally.
Back in 2024, the two teamed up for their first duet, “you look like you love me,” which became a massive success. Beyond streaming and chart success, which includes over 450 million streams on Spotify alone, a 2x platinum certification from the RIAA and a #1 spot on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart last December, it received a staggering seven separate wins across the ACM and CMA Awards.
They notched their first win in 2024 at the 58th CMA Awards when the track won its only nomination of the night for Musical Event of the Year. Fast forward a few months to the 2025 ACM Awards, and the floodgates began to open. On a huge night for Langley that included a win for New Female Artist of the Year, she also struck gold with “you look like you love me” once again. Scoring wins for Visual Media, Music Event and Single of the Year. Finally, it completed its generational run at the 59th CMA Awards last November when it won Single and Song of the Year as well as Music Video of the Year, becoming the first song in the history of the CMAs to take home all three awards on a single night.
Just when you thought that the two were done teaming up, they would then follow it up with the release of “Don’t Mind If I Do,” the title track to Green’s third studio album, just three months after “you look like you love me.” Though it didn’t quite reach the heights of their previous single, it was still wildly successful. On top of fanning the flames of the dating rumors, the track would score the pair another #1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, along with another platinum certification from the RIAA.
The two also hit the road together quite a bit back, with Ella serving as an opener on Riley’s Ain’t My Last Rodeo tour in 2024 as well as his Damn Country Music tour in 2025.
But comments Riley made recently about taking Ella out on tour have apparently rubbed his former opener the wrong way.
During a recent episode of The Voice, new judge Riley Green attempted to sway sister duo Ferryn & Brinkley by bringing up Ella’s success after opening for him:
“There was a girl that reminded me a lot of y’all. I took her on tour with me, her name’s Ella Langley. She’s doing pretty well.”
And during a recent Instagram live, one fan asked Ella for her reaction to Riley’s comments:
“When Riley took credit for your success on The Voice, did that rub you the wrong way?!
And it’s safe to say she wasn’t thrilled about them:
“Yeah, when that man took credit? No, didn’t love that, but typical. Typical. Pretty typical.”
Yikes…
Gonna guess we won’t be getting any duets from these two any time soon – although during a recent interview, Riley said it would be “crazy” not to team up with Ella again, so it sounds like he’d be up for it.
Then again, who wouldn’t be at this point?
