Well that’s awkward…
Tim McGraw recently celebrated 30 years of marriage to his wife and fellow country singer Faith Hill, taking to Instagram to praise his wife as “the center of gravity of his life.”
“It’s difficult to describe what she means, she is the center of gravity to my life and our girls lives and anyone who knows Audrey Faith McGraw. I love you baby. You are my best friend. My lover. My wife. My shelter in any and every storm. And the sunrise afterwards. Many more sunrises and sunsets. Many more beautiful memories to come. I am a fortunate man.”
Before he was married to Faith Hill though, the “Don’t Take the Girl” singer was engaged to a woman named Kristine Donahue.
McGraw and Hill first met in 1994, and in 1996 she joined him on his Spontaneous Combustion tour. He proposed to her in June of that year, with the two getting married shortly thereafter. And back in 2016, Tim and Faith both joined Bobby Bones on his show to discuss their love story.
As Tim recalled, the first time they met was at the annual Country Radio Seminar in Nashville:
“We were both doing the new faces show, and like Clay Walker was there, still a good friend, great guy. And we were backstage and we did this big group picture. And I was dating somebody at the time, and I met Faith, and when I left the person I was dating says, ‘Um, I don’t know if I want you to say hi to her anymore.’ It was immediate.”
That person, of course, was Donahue. And somehow she found this clip from 2016 discussing her relationship with the country singer, because she recently took to TikTok to give her reaction:
@kristinedonahuerealtor Imagine minding your own business, watching Bobby Bones… and suddenly your ex-fiancé is telling a story about YOU from 30+ years ago. 😂 Yes. I was the girlfriend. 🙋🏼♀️ Yes. I was standing beside Tim when he met Faith. And apparently I said, “I don’t think I want you to talk to her again.” Women’s intuition, y’all. IT DOES NOT MISS. 😂 And in the most perfect twist, today is Tim & Faith’s 30th wedding anniversary. ❤️ Clearly, I was onto something. Happy Anniversary to two people who were obviously meant to find each other. 🥂 #TimMcGraw #FaithHill #BobbyBones #90sCountry #countrymusicstories @Bobby Bones Show

While Donahue wished the two a happy anniversary in the caption of her video, some of her comments on the video raised eyebrows as to how she really feels about the way the relationship ended.
In response to a commenter who said that Faith gives off “Mean Girl” vibes, Donahue replied:
“You are very wise and intuitive”
And when asked if the whole situation bothered her, Donahue was honest in her response:
“It almost killed me.”
Clearly still some hard feelings there.
It’s not clear why Donahue decided to react to this 10 year old clip now: Maybe it just came up on her timeline, or maybe it was just because the couple were celebrating their 30-year anniversary. Either way, Tim and Faith have had one of the most enduring marriages in country music, an industry that isn’t exactly known for lasting relationships, so it seems like everything worked out for the best in the end. (And Donahue also confirms that she, too, is married and found the love of her life, so all’s well that ends well).
Still, an interesting look at the relationship they had before Tim met Faith.
