Thomas Rhett is doing what he can to spread the word of God, and fans are loving that he’s taking time out of each and every day to share with fans and followers about his faith.
For quite some time, the country music star behind hits like “Die A Happy Man” and “Beer with Jesus” has been sharing videos on his social platforms where he talks about his relationship with the Lord. Rhett is currently reading through a devotional titled Jesus Calling, which was written by Sarah Young, and each day, he posts a video to discuss what he took away from the daily lesson.
In the latest edition, he decided to boldly share the video to his main Instagram feed rather than just his Instagram story, and in September 28th’s devotional, it discussed the art of receiving:
“This has given me a lot of life, it’s bringing you a lot as well. September 28th reads ‘Open your mind and your heart and your entire being to receive my love in full measure. So many of my kids limp through their lives starved for love because they haven’t learned the art of receiving.’ That would be me. Raise your hand if that’s you.”
Like with all of the other times Rhett has posted to his story with these devotional breakdowns, he then went on to discuss his takeaways.
For this day’s message, there were two things that really stood out to the artist, and he first described how he struggles with being a perfectionist and feeling as though he has to earn everything:
“Two things I love about this. The art of receiving is a discipline. If you are an overachiever and a perfectionist like me, you feel like you’ve got to earn everything. You’ve got to work hard and you’ve got to earn it. I think when it comes to our relationship with God, He is just a dad saying, ‘Here, open arms, come to me and believe in Me and trust in Me.'”
Thomas Rhett is clearly a man who has experienced the never-ending grace of God.
Now for the second thing that really stuck with the country star. Rhett admits in the video that sometimes he feels like the problems he experiences aren’t big enough to get God’s attention. Through the message of Jesus Calling, he came to the realization that no hardship is too small:
“One of the devil’s favorite deceptions is to undermine your confidence in my unconditional love. How easy it is in times of hardship to think, ‘God doesn’t see this. He doesn’t hear this. He’s got bigger problems.’ I just don’t believe that to be true. It says fight back against these lies, and I think the way you fight back is to dig harder into your prayer life.”
Exceptional advice.
Rhett says that his religious upbringing made him accustomed to praying really small prayers. Now, he says he’s been practicing praying bigger and bolder, and encouraged all of his followers to do the same:
“Pray big prayers. They might not get answered how you think they are gonna get answered, but He’s listening and He wants to give his kids good gifts.”
All in all, it’s really cool to see a person of Thomas Rhett’s stature using his platform to spread the Gospel. Not only is he openly sharing what he’s taking away from his daily lessons… he’s likely inspiring others to pick up the Bible, or even explore starting their very own daily devotional.
