“Mr. Saturday Night” is back and better than ever this fall.
Jon Pardi has always been one of those artists who don’t get enough credit in today’s country world. As an artist firmly planted in the mainstream, he’s scored plenty of #1s throughout his career, namely with smash hits like “Head Over Boots,” “Dirt On My Boots” and “Heartache on the Dancefloor.” However, when you take a look at his discography as a whole, you quickly realize that Pardi is one of the last remaining traditionalists in the genre who still frequently receives mainstream attention.
Whether it’s his underrated gem of an album, Heartache Medication, or his breakout sophomore effort, California Sunrise, which recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary, or his most recent release, Honkytonk Hollywood, it’s been more than apparent that Pardi is one of the most successful commercial artists who’s still dedicated to preserving a classic country sound.
In case you missed it, back in July, Pardi announced the 19-show Gamblin’ Man Tour this fall, hitting amphitheaters and arenas across the country. Though he kicked it off over the weekend in Richmond and Atlantic City, there’s still plenty of time to catch the “Can’t Turn You Down” singer in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Athens, Georgia, Charleston, West Virginia, Laredo, Texas, and 13 more cities throughout the jam-packed three-month stretch.
Along with openers, Alexandra Kay and Sadie Bass, setting the tone early as support, Pardi has been treating fans to some killer sets so far. Simply put, he’s curating a setlist for just about everyone, ranging from his biggest fans to casual listeners. Taking a look at his second show of the tour in Atlantic City, he’s packing it full of smash hits such as “Night Shift,” “Dirt on My Boots” and “Heartache Medication,” stellar deep cuts like “Starlight,” “Can’t Turn You Down” and “Cowboy Hat” and even some covers such as Keith Whitley’s “Somebody’s Doing Me Right” and a medley that sees “Up All Night” transition into Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds.”
As previously mentioned, Pardi has remained one of the last traditionalists in the mainstream over the past decade, and he wears it on his sleeve during each and every concert, providing heavy doses of fiddle and steel throughout. Having seen him multiple times over the years, I can confidently say he puts on a great show each and every time.
If he’s in your city, you will not want to miss him — especially with the setlist he’s curated so far this tour.
