Just in case he needed some more ideas for his new song
I hate to start Monday off with some bad news, but Luke Bryan is gearing up to release his next studio album, Signs, on September 18. The “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” singer has already dropped two songs from the new project with “Country and She Knows It” and the critically-acclaimed masterpiece “Fish Hunt Golf Drink.” But last week, Luke unveiled the full tracklist for the new album and dropped teasers of a couple of the unreleased songs.
Now, let’s start off with the good: The album opens with a feature from Luke Combs on a song called “Finders Keepers.” But another song that Luke (Bryan) teased is one called “Down Goes the Whiskey.” And…well, let’s just take a look at the lyrics:
“Slam goes the door
Flyin’ goes the dust
Break goes the heart
To the bar goes the truck
Buzz goes the neon
Jukebox goes Whitley
There goes that love up in smoke
And down goes the whiskey”
Well as you can imagine, the comments immediately began roasting the song, with many pointing out that it’s eerily reminiscent of the children’s tune “Pop Goes the Weasel.” But others began suggesting additional lyrics to the song. And the top comment right now?
“Fart goes the butt”
I’ll be honest, I cried laughing the first time I saw that one, and so far the comment has racked up nearly 60k likes on TikTok (while Luke’s video itself only has 18k). But now, people have started commenting “Fart goes the butt” on ALL of his videos.

Unfortunately for Luke, the same thing happened when he released “Fish Hunt Golf Drink” and everyone began commenting “Climb tree” on all of his posts, but somehow that’s better than “Fart goes the butt.”
Of course that was far from the only comment on this latest song:
“Down goes the volume”
“Pop goes the weasel”
“Wheels on the bus DUI version”
“Skip goes the song”
“Hell goes the no”
“What goes the hell”
“Rock hits the bottom”
Others compared it to those See ‘n Say kids toys. (You know, those giant wheels where you pull the handle and it lands on an animal and tells you what it says). And another commenter pretty much summed it up:
“He’s listing things again.”
And this one was especially brutal:
“My grandpa has been sick, has been for a while. He has struggled with walking and taking care of himself. Your music though seems to have helped him. Your song was playing on the radio and I saw him get up and walk for the first time in years to go turn it off. Thank you for all you do.”
Hey, so at least some good came from the song.
