Not a bad backup.

Justin Moore recently announced that he would be taking a break from touring, forcing him to cancel some upcoming shows as he steps away to focus on his health.

He made the announcement in a post to his social media on Monday:

“I’ve made the decision to take some time to focus on my health. As a result, I’ll be stepping away from touring for a short period and will be unable to perform some upcoming shows. This is the right decision for me and my family, and I appreciate everyone’s understanding and support. I look forward to getting back out there later this summer and doing what I love most.”

Along with a pair of shows at Bottle & Cork in Dewey Beach, Delaware, Justin will also miss a handful of shows in which he was scheduled to open for Riley Green on his Cowboy As It Gets tour, including stops at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey; Albany Med Health System at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, New York; Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York; Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana; and The Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania.

But fans attending at least some of those shows are in for a treat, because country music legend Clint Black has been tapped to replace Justin on this weekend’s run of shows in New Jersey and New York.

Riley and Clint were together recently at the Billboard Country Power Players event held last Wednesday, June 3 at Category 10 here in Nashville. Clint presented Riley with the Hitmaker Award, and praised the “Worst Way” singer for his country sound:

“I’m most impressed with his songwriting. His music is pure country, and we could always use more of that.”

The duo have also performed together in the past, including at the Country Calling festival back in 2024 when Clint joined Riley for a duet of “Killin’ Time.”

There’s been no word on who will be replacing Justin on the dates in Indiana and Pennsylvania on June 25 and 26, but in addition to Justin those dates were already scheduled to include Mackenzie Carpenter and Adam Hood as openers.

As of right now, Justin is scheduled to return to the stage on July 9 at the Knox County Fair in Knoxville, Illinois, and will be rejoining Riley on tour starting July 16 at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Hopefully Justin’s healthy by then and ready to take the stage again very soon.
