As an artist, there is no denying that embarrassing things will happen to you while on stage. It might happen early in your career, or you could go years and years unscathed by shameful moments, but it’s bound to happen at some point. Most of these unfortunate events can be laughed off as a trip or a minor fall, but on rare occasions, they can lead to serious injury.
Billy Strings wrapped up a two-night run in Charlottesville, Virginia’s John Paul Jones Arena last night, delivering mind-blowing shows for the Billy Goats. However, last night’s show on April 18 was cut short after an unfortunate event forced Strings to close out his set before returning for his encore.
A fan at the concert uploaded a video clip, she said, showing moments before the disaster. Strings is one stage, absolutely shredding on stage to close out his set. This is something that Billy Strings is known for — Laying down a final few face-melting moments before the arena erupts in applause, coaxing him back out on stage to sing one or two more for them.
According to other users online, Strings was backstage before he fully intended to come back out for his encore. Strings was presumably celebrating the incredible show and was reportedly riding a skateboard backstage. He was on his board, making his way back onto the stage, when he attempted to do a kick flip, resulting in him falling and seriously injuring himself.
While no one has the full video footage online, there is a clip of Strings on the ground, rolling around in pain, looking at his leg, and then quickly being taken back offstage.
After the show, superfans were quick to find the 911 dispatch call, which noted that an artist had a broken leg. The call was uploaded to the conversation platform, and you can hear various dispatch personnel detailing how they should get Strings out of the arena.
Strings recently shared clips of him getting back into skateboarding, and he’s no amateur when it comes to his skill set. Strings even shared this insane jump shot of himself before night one in Charlottesville.
Billy Strings took to Instagram on April 19 to confirm the rumors were true, sharing an image of his X-ray along with the setlist from the night.
