Florida Cowboy Nails A Backflip Off Fence — Then Instantly Gets Wrecked By Pickup Riders

Cowboy gets run over

Rodeos are full of high highs and low lows. You are fighting to stay on for eight seconds, and if you make it to that number, you are full of adrenaline and feel untouchable. But if you don’t, and you come off, there is a serious risk of injury. Even if you make it to the eight seconds and come off the bucking stock safely, the strain from events like bareback broncs, saddled broncs, and bull riding defines pushing yourself to the limit. Not only is it physically demanding to keep yourself upright on these animals.

If you think you have back problems, I bet that’s nothing compared to what some of these cowboys and cowgirls feel the day after a rodeo. They don’t call pain killers “cowboy candy” for nothing…

Rodeo also has the element of the unexpected, with the danger and demands of the sport. Freak accidents are never fun to see, and thankfully, due to the professionals who partake in the sport, cowboys are kept much safer than they once were. But that does not mean that accidents are completely avoidable.

A Florida cowboy is currently going viral online for a freak accident that recently took place in Dover, Florida. An attendee at the rodeo shared that this was her first rodeo and was shocked to see such a freak event.

The cowboy, who goes by Cowboy Sway on social media, is highlighted riding a crazy bronc in the saddled bronc event. After showing off his skills and lasting eight seconds on the horse, he jumps down and instantly begins celebrating the stylish ride. Cowboy Sway continues his celebration by running over to the fence where the crowd is going wild, climbs to the top, and does a back flip off the fence, and sticks the landing. Well, mostly sticks it…

After all these good things, it’s hard to know where this video might go wrong, but then the unthinkable happens.

Right after Cowboy Sway completes his backflip and stands up, he gets trucked by the pickup riders and the horse that he just rode. The crowd was shocked, and a rodeo clown jumped over the fence very quickly to ensure the flattened cowboy was okay.

The video quickly gained traction online, gaining over 3 million views in 24 hours and over 600k likes. The footage was shocking, given that the ride could have gone wrong at so many parts, and a disaster occurred at the most unexpected moment.

Thankfully, Cowboy Sway is okay and shared a video on his page that he’s going to be back in the shoots for his next rodeo come July:

“I’M ALL GOOD FOLKS, AND I’VE READ A FEW COMMENTS. THE INTERNET STAYS UNDEFEATED, BUT HEY, THE GRIT DON’T QUIT AND I’M READY FOR MY NEXT RIDE IN MAY. TAMPA, I’LL SEE YOU AGAIN IN JULY.”

That’s one tough bronc rider…. but as Ella Langley said, “if you’re gonna be dumb, you better be tough.”
