Just call her Vanessa Wynette because she’s standing by her man.
Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr. and mother of President Trump’s granddaughter Kai, has publicly shown her support for her boyfriend Tiger Woods, a week after the golf legend was arrested for DUI.
Tiger went public with the relationship last March, following public speculation that the two were a couple:
The 48-year old Vanessa had been married to Don Jr. for 13 years before getting divorced back in 2018. The two have five children together, including 18-year old Kai Trump, who like her grandfather is an avid golfer herself and has become a popular social media personality over the past year or so.
Over the past year or so, the President Donald Trump has been publicly supportive of his ex-daughter-in-law’s relationship with the most famous golfer in the world, and even welcomed Tiger to the White House recently for a roundtable on “Saving College Sports.”
But last week, the relationship between Vanessa and Tiger faced its biggest public test yet when the golf legend was arrested for DUI after he rolled his car near his Jupiter, Florida home.
The golfer was, according to police, traveling at a high rate of speed on a two-lane road in his Land Rover and attempted to pass a truck that was pulling a trailer. Tiger reportedly sideswiped the trailer, which caused his vehicle to roll over onto the driver’s side.
Shortly after news of the crash began spreading, the sheriff’s office announced that Tiger had been arrested for DUI. In a press conference, authorities said Woods appeared impaired after crawling out of the vehicle, and after field sobriety tests officers believed that he was under the influence of prescription drugs. Deputies also reportedly found two hydrocodone pills in his pocket.
After being arrested, Woods was given a breathalyzer which confirmed that he hadn’t been drinking, but refused to submit to a urine test to determine whether he was on anything else. As a result, Tiger was charged with DUI causing property damage and refusal to submit to a urine test following a lawful DUI arrest.
Following his release from jail, Woods announced that he’s stepping away from golf and seeking treatment at a rehab facility, leaving the country due to privacy concerns:
“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.
I’m committed to taking the time needed to return to a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”
Over the past week, there have been rumors that Tiger’s decision to enter rehab was the result of an ultimatum from his girlfriend, with some sources claiming that Vanessa was “pissed” while others maintain that she was fully supportive of Tiger during this difficult time.
But up until now, we haven’t heard anything from Vanessa herself.
She broke her silence today, though, sharing a photo on her Instagram story of herself and Tiger laying in a hammock together with a simple caption:
“Love you”
Seems like she’s standing by her man after all.
As for the president, it appears that Tiger also still has his support. When asked about the accident immediately after it happened, Trump expressed his sympathy for his friend:
“I feel so badly. He’s got some difficulty. There was an accident, and that’s all I know. Very close friend of mine. He’s an amazing person, an amazing man. But some difficulty.”
And this week he again expressed support for the golf legend during an interview with the New York Post:
“He tested negative for alcohol, as you know, and he is under a tremendous physical pressure from his various ailments, you know, the back and the leg. He lives a life of pain. He has a lot of pain. He’s an amazing guy. He’s an amazing athlete. He does have pain.”
In fact, body cam footage showed Tiger hanging up a phone call with the president immediately after the accident, before he was taken into custody:
Obviously this would have been a massive story even without Tiger’s connections to the Trump family, but man, the fact that he’s dating the daughter-in-law of the president really throws an extra layer of insanity into the whole thing.
