The war wages on.
No, I’m not talking about the current fight between the United States and Iran. I’m talking about the President of the United States versus…Bruce Springsteen.
For pretty much his entire second term so far, President Donald Trump has been locked in a heated war of words with the aging rockstar, which started when The Boss made some pretty scathing comments about Trump during a concert in Manchester, England last spring:
“In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration…
The majority of our elected representatives have failed to protect the American people from the abuses of an unfit president and a rogue government. They have no concern or idea of what it means to be deeply America. The America that I’ve sung to you about for 50 years is real, and regardless of its faults, it’s a great country with great people. So we’ll survive this moment.”
The president fired back at Springsteen on social media, calling the rock star “highly overrated” and saying that he’s never been a fan:
“I see that Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States. Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent FOOL, and our WORST EVER President, who came close to destroying our Country.
If I wasn’t elected, it would have been GONE by now! Sleepy Joe didn’t have a clue as to what he was doing, but Springsteen is “dumb as a rock,” and couldn’t see what was going on, or could he (which is even worse!)? This dried out “prune” of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just “standard fare.” Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”
And Trump continued his feud with Springsteen by sharing a meme on social media showing himself hitting a golf ball and knocking down The Boss on stage:
Well it seems that Springsteen was eager to reignite his feud with the president as he headed back out on tour this year, because during his opening night concert in Minneapolis the rock star once again took aim at Trump, along with Attorney General Pam Bondi:
“We are living through some very dark times. Our American values that have sustained us for 250 years are being challenged as never before. We’ve got our young men and women’s lives at risk In an unconstitutional and illegal war. This is happening now.
There are immigrants being held in detention centers around the country and being deported without due process of law to alien countries and foreign gulags. This is happening now.
Our Justice Department has completely abdicated its independence, and our attorney general, Pam Bondi, takes her marching orders straight from a corrupt White House. She prosecutes our president’s perceived enemies, covers up for his misdeeds and protects his powerful friends. This is happening now. …
This White House is destroying the American idea and our reputation around the world. To many, we are no longer looked upon as an often imperfect but strong defender of democracy standing for the global good. We are no longer the land of the free and the home of the brave. We are now, to many, America the reckless, unpredictable, predatory rogue nation. That is this administration’s and this president’s legacy. This is happening now.”
Of course, Springsteen had warned ahead of time that his tour would be political: In a video announcing the Land of Hope and Dreams tour, Springsteen called it a “spring of rock and rebellion” while attacking the president:
“We will be rocking your town in celebration and in defense of America, American democracy, American freedom, our American constitution and our sacred American dream. All of which are under attack by our wannabe king and his rogue government in Washington, D.C.”
And it appears that he caught the president’s attention with his comments from opening night.
This morning, just hours after addressing the nation on the war in Iran, President Trump took to social media to launch an attack on Springsteen, breaking out one of his favorite insults against The Boss and once again calling him a “dried up prune.”
“Bad, and very boring singer, Bruce Springsteen, who looks like a dried up prune who has suffered greatly from the work of a really bad plastic surgeon, has long had a horrible and incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, sometimes referred to as TDS.
The guy is a total loser who spews hate against a President who won a Landslide Election, including the popular vote, all Seven Swing States, and 86% of the Counties across America. Under Sleepy Joe and the Dems, our Country was DEAD, and now we have the “hottest” Country, by far, anywhere in the World. MAGA SHOULD BOYCOTT HIS OVERPRICED CONCERTS, WHICH SUCK. SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. AMERICA IS BACK! ! ! President DJT”
I think it’s safe to say the president won’t be inviting Springsteen to any of his America 250 celebrations.
