That’s gonna leave a mark…
Music City… the land of honky tonks, great live music at nearly every corner you turn, great sports from the Predators and Titans to the minor league baseball, the Nashville Sounds, and the mecca of country music. It’s a country-music fan’s (or day-drinking enthusiast’s) dream.
All jokes aside, as a native Nashvillian, Nashville is a great town with far more to offer than Broadway, but it’s no secret that over the last decade, Music City has turned into an over-commercialized tourist town. From 21st birthday parties to the “Whoo” girls who flock to Broadway for their bachelorettes, there is always a group of something taking to the streets lined with bars. And with the rise in tourist groups visiting Nashville, the city has also seen a rise in ride-on party barges, ranging from trailers pulled by tractors to traditional pedal taverns… Hell, I remember the days of the hot tub party trucks (which, thinking back on, had to be a health violation of sorts)
The party barges add another source of entertainment for locals as we drive by and honk or wave at the intoxicated passengers.
But if you’re a brave soul like the victim of today’s viral video, you run alongside the party wagon hoping to hitch a ride. It’s hard to imagine that this is the first time something like this has happened, but this is the first time someone has captured this painfully glorious moment on film and shared it with the expansive world of social media.
Over on TikTok, a group of Nashville partygoers is going viral after sharing a video earlier this month. While riding on their party barge, they ran into a man on the street (perhaps a friend?) who decided he was going to pick up speed on foot and chase after the moving vehicle.
What was his goal? A high five? To catch a ride? To potentially get a free drink? Who knows, and the world will never know because he did not make it very far. After picking up enough speed to catch up to the vehicle, he was within arm’s reach of giving a passenger a high five when he got distracted from his surroundings and slammed straight into a telephone pole. Not only does his collision look super painful, but after he hits the asphalt, this man looks so discombobulated like Mr. Potato Head in Toy Story. It’s something straight out of a movie…
Lesson learned… Don’t lose sight of the telephone poles, but keep chasing your friends.
