The final song before the full album is released. Ella Langley’s highly-anticipated sophomore album Dandelion will be out in less than a month on April 10th, and she has one more single for fans to hear before it’s out.
She just announced that “Loving Life Again” will be out this Friday, March 20th, and it’s one she’s played live some already that finds her stepping back to take a breathe and appreciate everything she has in her life.
When she debuted it recently, she spoke about some of the hardships she’s faced over the last year with her rising fame, which prompted her to step away from music and touring to rediscover herself and reconnect with who she truly is.
Langley shared with her fans that during her downtime, she was inspired to create this song, reflecting on the things that help her reconnect with her roots.
“This next song I’m about to play is on the record. It’s probably the…one of the most sentimental. I went through a time and a half last year. I took a couple of weeks off, and I got to refine myself. I got to have a lot of talks with the Lord, and I got to be re-grateful for all of the things that he’s given me. So on this song, it’s called ‘Lovin’ Life Again.’”
Similar to “Dandelion,” “Lovin’ Life Again” conveys a much softer, more natural, and warmer feeling. It’s a switch-up from the edgier, rock-and-roll-inspired flair we love from Langley, but it feels fitting given that she shared she’s aiming for a “Sunday afternoon” kind of record. You can clearly hear how much Langley’s upbringing has shaped her in “Lovin’ Life Again,” and the imagery she paints of reconnecting with herself in Alabama transports listeners to a rolling pasture with warm sunshine on their faces.
She sings about recalling beautiful memories that make her feel centered, and immediately make her feel a sense of peace in who she is and how much she has to be grateful for:
“Seasons come like, seasons go I guess
Ain’t it just like me making all this mess
Of my head again
I’ve got memories I like to think of
When this big old world gets a bit too much
When days are long I drift away I plat that song I used to play
When skies were always summertime blue
Just like that I’m back to loving life again
Dreaming dreams about back home riding on the wind
When I close my eyes I find some peace in the back of my mind
In between them pines where I’m jumping on that quarter horse and then
Just like that I’m back to loving life again”
While most of us will never experience the throws of fame and handling the music industry as a young woman, the message here is something I think everyone can relate to, and in announcing the release date, Ella also shared part of the studio cut in her Instagram post:
“‘Loving Life Again’ is yours on Friday. This song means so much to me, and I knew that it had to be the last single before ‘Dandelion’ is out.”
I love the softer, slower feel of this one and Ella’s said a few times we’ll get to know a deeper side of her with this project, and from what I’ve already heard, it’s going to be great:
