Her very first feature film premieres this week, Back in May, it was announced that country music’s own Lainey Wilson scored a roll in the movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s hit novel “Reminders of Him.”

Variety broke the news that Wilson had been cast as Amy, and her character is a friend and coworker to the protagonist, Kenna Rowan played by Maika Monroe. The rest of the cast includes Tyriq Withers, Rudy Pankow, Lauren Graham, Bradley Whitford, and Nicholas Duvernay for her feature film debut.

“Reminders of Him” became a best-selling novel for Colleen Hoover, published in 2022 and selling over 6.5 million copies. The story follows Kenna Rowan (Monroe), who returns to her hometown after serving five years in prison for a mistake she made.

Rowan knows that she will have to make amends with many people to earn their forgiveness for her past, and the story follows her as she mends those relationships and hopes to reconnect with her daughter. Variety notes that the film is described as a “transformative feature film about motherhood, forgiveness and the power of one love to heal even the most shattered heart.”

Vanessa Caswill directed “Reminders of Him,” and Hoover wrote the screenplay with Lauren Levine. Hoover and Levine are also producing the film through their production company, Heartbones Entertainment. Gina Matthews is producing through her Little Engine Productions, and Robin Fisichella is executive producing. Christine Sun has been named director of production development, overseeing the project.

The film is set to hit theaters this Friday, March 13th, 2026, and last night, Lainey attended the Reminders Of Him premiere in LA , where she walked the red carpet in a gorgeous black ensemble sans her signature hat. She looked incredible:

Lainey plays a character named Amy who is the assistant manager at a local grocery store, Gage’s Grocers, and when asked about her favorite part of being on the cast was getting to know everyone who was involved, from book author Colleen Hoover, to director Vanessa Caswill, to stars Maika Monroe and Tyriq Withers, as well as all the people who worked on set and made it all happen.

Lainey said it’s good to know that good people “exist everywhere” and are part of the “movie magic” we all enjoy:

“My favorite moment on set was honestly just getting to know Colleen and Tess, the director, Maika and Tyriq, just good people. Good people on the set, and it’s cool to know people like that exist everywhere, and are in charge of making all this movie magic. It’s good to know that good things happen to good people.”

Good to know not everyone in Hollywood is a total lunatic…

Of course, Lainey is no stranger to the acting world at this point, as she previously had a role on Yellowstone as Abby, and I have no doubt she did a great job with her first big screen movie and I’m really excited to see this movie.

The last Colleen Hoover movie It Ends with Us still has a TON of drama around it, thanks to co-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni (it’s a long story), so hopefully this one is much less of drama offscreen and it all stays onscreen…

You can see Lainey in the trailer below, around the one minute mark, and the film is out in theaters this weekend:
