She really is exactly who she thinks she is. Ali Larter plays the wife of Tommy Norris, also known as the legendary Billy Bob Thornton, on the hit Taylor Sheridan show Landman, and Angela has become one of the most polarizing characters of the whole cast, even into Season 2 that wrapped up in January.
She plays a feisty, free-spirited, and sometimes over-the-top character that is certainly an entertaining character on the hit show, and we’ve seen her do some pretty wild things like getting a bunch of senior citizens drunk, her many extravagant themed dinners that usually end up in a fight… I mean, is can get pretty soap opera-y at times, and honestly I do see why fans complain about her being annoying, but I think a lot of the time, that’s kind of the point.
She’s still a very protective and loving mom to her two children Ainsley and Cooper, and she does try to be a good wife to Tommy, though as you know if you watch the show, it’s not always sunshine and rainbows with them… more like pyro and fireworks, which comes with its own excitement.
In many ways, Angela Norris reminds me a lot of Yellowstone firecracker Beth Dutton, as they both have very strong personalities and definitely don’t hold back when it comes to saying exactly what’s on their mind, and like Beth, Angela has become a bit of a polarizing character.
Some people find her really funny and endearing, while others see her as downright annoying in many of her outlandish scenes, and I can see both sides… sometimes I think she’s really entertaining, but other times, it seems like things just go a little too far and it’s obviously unrealistic, but it’s also a TV show, and I digress…
But during an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the 32nd Annual Actor Awards (formerly known as the SAG Awards) over the weekend, Larter talked about her age and how she continues to embrace getting older while maintaining her sexy side. She was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for her role for her role as Angela Norris, and she looked absolutely stunning in a deep red, corset-style gown by Zuhair Murad.
She celebrated her 50th birthday just one day prior to the show, and Kevin Frazier asked Ali if she walks around owning it on the set of Landman just like Angela does on the show:
“When you go on the set of ‘Landman,’ do you walk around, and you’re like ‘Look at me, hell yes.'”
Ali said she absolutely does, and she was shocked in the first season by the fan reaction to how her character acted because she doesn’t believe it mattered what age she is, and she’s feeling good being “50 and fly” now:
“Every time. When you play a character like Angela, you have to own the room. The world is your stage… I think that was the most shocking to me during the first season, people were like, why is she acting that way? Like, why is that so shocking that a woman is sexy in her late 40s? And now 50, so let’s go, no expiration date. 50 and fly.”
I couldn’t have said it better myself… but of course, most of are not the stunning Ali Larter, and she looked absolutely breathtaking on the red carpet. If I even look 5% as good as she does at 50-years-old, I’ll be more than happy with that.
I think more people were turned off by Angela’s personality, not her looks or anything of that nature, but still, her point is well taken and I love that she’s owning it just like Angela would, I think:
@entertainmenttonight Fifty and fly! Ali Larter is channeling her ‘Landman’ character, Angela🔥#ActorAwards #alilarter #landman ♬ original sound – Entertainment Tonight
She keeps the show interesting and everybody on their toes, so to speak, that’s for sure…
