“I’m 40 Years Old, I Can’t Be Dealing With This”: Wild Turkeys Terrorize UPS Delivery Driver In Connecticut

I prefer my wild turkey in a glass on the rocks… not running around and terrorizing UPS drivers.

Turkeys are native to North America and are currently found in every state in the U.S. except for Alaska. That adds up to an estimated 7 million wild toms and hens roaming the various forests of the country… and we know at least two of those turkeys are currently residing in Branford, Connecticut.

We’re able to confirm that thanks to this video that’s currently got the attention of the internet.

Long story short, a UPS delivery driver was just trying to deliver packages in a neighborhood of Branford when a couple of up-to-no-good turkeys set their sights on him. What ensued was a battle that can only be described as horrifyingly comical. Typically, my battles with turkey are reserved for the Thanksgiving table. I’d prefer to get into a heavyweight fight with my belt to see how much turkey I can stuff down over actually going toe-to-talon with a turkey in the middle of a parking lot like this guy did.

And to be clear… this isn’t an out of the ordinary event. Wild turkeys are known to be aggressive around humans, especially if it’s during breeding season. They don’t often peck, attack or chase humans, but when they do – like in this video – they really go for it. The turkeys even caused this particular delivery driver to shout this out loud:

“I’m 40 years old, I can’t be dealing with this.”

Fortunately, the UPS driver was able to avoid the two turkeys for the most part, and was always able to make it from doorstep to truck without any direct contact with the angry birds. But that didn’t stop the wild animals from coming after him. Luckily for us, someone nearby heard all of the ruckus and decided to step out on their porch to get it all on video:

Poor guy. Officially, that’s not funny. Unofficially though… it’s damn funny.

As you might imagine, the above video has gone insanely viral. It’s one of those rare feel-good clips where the person that was in it probably didn’t feel all that great while everything captured on film was going down. Hopefully the UPS man can find some comfort in knowing that he brought a lot of social media users in the comments a lot of laughs:

“Getting chased by turkeys on the clock is crazy.”

“The turkeys respect that the truck is base.”

“I’m dying. You can tell he’s having the best and worst time all at once.”

“I imagine the UPS delivery notification being something like ‘Your package has been delivered under sheer panic and terror.'”

“No one would ever believe this if you hadn’t captured it.”

“The victory scream every time he made it back to the truck sent me.”

“This man needs to be paid for a commercial promoting UPS.”

“Did he just tell the turkeys ‘deuces?'”

Yes, he did… and he was right in doing so.

Realistically, that delivery man is not getting paid enough to handle wild turkey evasion on top of his regular job. Here’s to hoping that either a) the turkeys vacated the premises and the UPS driver never had to deal with that again or b) the guy asked to have his route changed just in case.
