I mean it’s kind of camp…
The Milan-Cortina Olympic Games have officially kicked off, with the opening ceremony held last night. Ahead of the opening ceremony, athletes were settling into the Olympic Village, getting in their final workouts and practice runs before competition gets underway, and (my favorite part) giving us at home a peek into all the swag they have received from various brands.
While Team USA is known for being decked out in Ralph Lauren, that is just one of the brands that help keep Team USA decked out in red, white, and blue during the games. Athletes also receive clothing items and more from Lululemon, Nike, and Skims, to name a few.
And one Nike item gifted to athletes is gaining quite a bit of viral attention online.
The clothing brand gave athletes a skirt that doubles as a warming blanket, which can be worn on the podium, out and about, and more. It seems like a pretty cool multi-use piece of clothing, right? And while that’s true, Nike chose to feature the pattern on this item as a bald eagle soaring above a mountainous scene.
The skirt, which can be purchased by non-Olympic athletes for $145, has a description that reads:
“Conquer the cold—loud and proud. This heat-regulating skirt takes inspiration from the Colorado mountains, home to an athlete training center for sport’s biggest stage. And it’s not just a skirt—unsnap, unwrap and use it as a blanket. If you need to pack it up, the entire skirt fits into the included pouch.”
It’s quite the look, and Grace Henderson, a member of the Olympic Freeski team, gave fans a preview of how well this skirt pairs with the matching bald eagle dry-fit shirt Nike gifted them.

It did not take long for the comments section to fill up, noting that the Nike bald eagle skirt was not their cup of tea, but they loved the look of the bald eagle shirt (which retails for $60).
“The skirt is camp, the hat is a crime.”
“Maybe I’m delusional but I don’t hate it.”
“You know what, heck yeah.”
“Somehow the skirt is giving camp but also prairie.”
“It’s possibly one of the worst fashion disasters ever.”
“Hear me out…turn it into a mini skirt with an eagle tube top.”
“This fit needs to be added to the lookbook.”
I mean after watching a few of these videos the skirt is honestly growing on me… Check out some other viral moments made with the infamous skirt.
