“A Dream Come True”: Flatland Cavalry Receives Second-Most Adds This Week On Country Radio With New Single, “Never Comin’ Back”

Flatland Cavalry

The Humble Folks are coming to a radio near you.

As we sit in 2026, there’s absolutely no denying that Flatland Cavalry has been one of the best and most consistent bands for over a decade at this point. Since their debut with Humble Folks in 2016, the West Texas band has scored a plethora of acclaimed hits such as the certified gold duet with Kaitlin Butts, “A Life Where We Work Out,” along with other fan favorites like “Sleeping Alone,” “Missing You” and “Mountain Song.”

Up there with the likes of Turnpike Troubadours, Charles Wesley Godwin, Colter Wall, Whiskey Myers and more, Flatland has established themselves as one of the premier acts in the alternative/independent scene. Of course, this is for good reason. It feels a bit cliché to say that a band feels like they can exist in any era, but it remains true with Flatland. With an undeniably warm, traditional sound, highlighted primarily by frontman Cleto Cordero’s vocals and the heavy emphasis on fiddle from multiple members of the band throughout its existence, the Lubbock-based band has remained one of the best bands in an era filled with some of the most talented groups we’ve seen in a long, long time.

As time passes, it looks like Flatland very well might be the next act to breakout into the mainstream. We’ve already seen them grab back-to-back nominations for Group of the Year at the 2024 and 2025 ACM Awards. This year they’ve also scored major opening spots on both reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year, Lainey Wilson and Billboard’s #1 Artist of 2025, Morgan Wallen’s, upcoming tours this year.

This week, they’ve also scored another major career accomplishment that points to even more growth, capturing the second-most adds on country radio this week for their brand-new single, “Never Comin’ Back,” with a total of 53 adds on stations across the country. Additionally, the track has debuted at #57 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, marking a career-first for the band.

Reflecting on the career-first for the band, Cordero would express just how much the radio-play meant to him, noting how his first introduction to country music came from his parents’ radio as a child.

“From my earliest days as a kid in West Texas, I can remember my parents’ radio on in the house, all day, every day. It’s that radio that first introduced me to country music. To finally have a chance to have one of our songs come out of those same speakers is a dream come true.”

Only time will tell just how successful the track winds up being for Flatland; however, it has all the makings of being a big ‘ol hit for them. Still adhering to the classic, fiddle-fueled sound that many have fallen in love with over the years, it has just enough of an upbeat, melodic edge that should draw in mainstream listeners in.

If nothing else, it’s a testament to just how much Flatland has grown over the past decade. In an era dominated by some of the most talented bands in the genre’s history, there aren’t many more deserving than this accomplishment than Flatland Cavalry.
