Sometimes the greatest inventions are the ones that you never knew you needed.
Have you ever gotten out to your car only to realize that you forgot the keys in the house? Or worse, left the keys in the vehicle itself and now you are locked out? Well that won’t ever happen again if you a) drive a 2018 or newer Ford F-150 b) like wearing big, oversized belt buckles and c) are willing to fork over $200 to get yourself a “Truckle.”
Yeah, that’s right… I said “Truckle.”
What is a “Truckle,” you might be asking? Well, it’s very simple really. It’s a western belt buckle that also houses your Ford F-150 truck key fab. Andy Andrews, a former rodeo cowboy, is the person who is handcrafting these beauties that Ford is rolling out to celebrate 50 years of the F-150.
Andrews is a lifelong Ford Truck owner and master buckle maker, and works out of a place called “A Cut Above Buckles” in Utah. That’s where all of the truckles are coming from, and they’re truly a remarkable, key fab innovation if you ask me.
Ford is certainly excited about it, and they explained the “Truckle” as this on their website:
“The creation of the Truckle custom belt buckle starts with a piece of raw metal and a vision to see the final product. What follows is a meticulous dance between hand-crafted tradition and precision, where decades-old techniques meet modern tools in a tiny workshop in rural Dammeron Valley, Utah.
The limited-run Truckles, a belt buckle designed to house a Ford key fob for 2018 and newer models, will allow for the most stylish version of hands-free access and key management that truck owners may ever experience. Retailing for $200, each Truckle is a unique expression of western style that ‘represents a special moment in time.'”
IMAGINE the aura of pulling up to the club wearing the Truckle and locking up your ride by pressing your belt buckle.
It’s honestly a breathtaking accessory, and the attention to detail in the handcrafting (and the engraved Ford F-150 that’s front and center on the buckle) is tremendous. The only fault I see in the revolutionary product? You kind of have to wear pants with belt loops for it to work. Either that or you just carry your belt fitted with the “Truckle” around like a WWE title belt.
That’s actually not a bad option, if you think about it… could be the move.
I’m sure the Ford fanatics will eat this accessory up. If you drive a 2018 or newer F-150, you simply can’t afford not to splurge on a “Truckle.” A Ford F-150 with just a regular ol’ key fob is like a Downtown Nashville bar without a rooftop. Soon, F-150 drivers will be able to shame or celebrate fellow F-150 drivers solely based upon whether or not they have the “Truckle,” and if you ask me… that’s a beautiful thing.
Here’s a video from Ford officially introducing the “Truckle,” the limited-run, two-in-one truck key and belt buckle that debuted in early October:
