The Carolina Panthers are so bad that a fan-driven podcast covering the team has decided to call it quits.
If you call yourself an NFL fan, you know that the Carolina Panthers have been in a bit of a professional football purgatory as of late. 2017 was the last time that the Panthers had a winning record, and they’ve only surpassed five total wins once since 2019. In 2025, Bryce Young and the Panthers are off to a 1 and 3 start, and appear to be on their way to yet another losing season.
Things have gotten so bad for the Carolina NFL franchise that a fan-driven podcast based on the Panthers – called MeowMix – has decided to cease because of the team’s poor performance. They’ve been covering the team since 2019, and after another season with not much to be excited about, MeowMix made the tough decision to wrap it up early… right in the middle of the season:
Stephen and Jerry, the co-hosts of the MeowMix podcast, put out a statement on the “The Future of MeowMix” just a couple of days ago. Their podcast will go on an indefinite hiatus for the rest of this season, with the chance that it will come back on occasion (if the Panthers actually show any signs of life).
It sounds like they basically chalked it up as “if the ownership isn’t going to put time into this team, we aren’t going to either,” and I’ve got to say that I respect them for that:
“Hi all. MeowMix: A Carolina Panthers Podcast is going on indefinite hiatus. Stephen and Jerry have enjoyed bringing everyone our thoughts on the team since our first episode on July 30, 2019. In that time, we have dedicated several hours a week to the production of the podcast, be it watching film, outlining the show, recording, editing and general planning.
We’ve met some incredible people along the way and built a small but amazing community of Panthers fans who enjoy our ‘two guys talking football at a bar’ style. Unfortunately, the last three seasons in particular have been extremely difficult as Panthers fans, and creating the type of content we enjoy has not been as exciting or enjoyable. The amount of time on Sundays that we spend away from our wives and young children has become difficult to justify.”
The statement goes on to say that they hope the Carolina Panthers become competitive again, and that producing and releasing weekly episodes on a “42-13 a** whipping” become more of a chore than it was a passion project. That feeling, and the desire to spend more time with their families, led them to shutter the show for the time being.

Poor guys.
The Carolina Panthers suck so bad that fans that were trying to cover the team with a loose and fun podcast couldn’t even take it anymore. If that’s not a wake up call for those higher-up executives in Carolina, I don’t know what is. Panthers fans continue to be tortured, and I don’t blame MeowMix for closing up shop… they are probably incredibly bummed about their team.
And that’s statistically proven.
A survey conducted just a couple years back by Casino.org (sounds a little fishy to me) set out to explore fan happiness of every professional sports team, and found that Panthers fans were the biggest doubters and most miserable. Almost 70% of those who consider themselves Carolina faithful said that there’s no chance whatsoever that Panthers make it to the Super Bowl (oddsmakers agree).
Not only that, the survey revealed that Panthers fans consistently felt let down, and that they were highly disappointed with and didn’t trust the management of the team. And now, you know what you can add to all of that? The Panthers lead the NFL in putting a team out on the field that’s so detestable, it ends long-running podcasts…
