What on God’s green Earth was Kyler Murray and his media team thinking with this photoshoot?
The Arizona Cardinals are off to a hot start (2-0) on the field. But off the field? Their quarterback Kyler Murray has gotten into some hot water because of a very questionable photoshoot that featured the 28-year-old athlete posing with a pit bull and wearing a Michael Vick jersey.
Murray posted the series of photos to his social media accounts, and has since deleted them.
But as they say, the internet is forever, and just because Murray deleted the pictures doesn’t mean that they are gone forever. In fact, they’re still very much present in the form of screenshots, and one account on X shared some of the photos, and said that Murray was now “trending” because of the lack of foresight.
I simply don’t understand how someone involved with the photoshoot, or even Kyler Murray himself, didn’t at some point ask, “Hey, should we be doing this? Is this a bad idea?”
For the uninitiated, the combination of a Michael Vick jersey and a dog breed that’s generally known for it’s aggressiveness is problematic. That’s because back in 2007, the Atlanta Falcons star quarterback pled guilty to federal felony charges for his role in running a dog-fighting ring. Vick served almost two years in federal prison before being released, and eventually returning to the NFL to play for the Philadelphia Eagles.
So long story short, there’s one thing that immediately comes to mind when you see a) a Michael Vick jersey paired up with b) a pit bull. Anyone familiar with the NFL and it’s history knows that, yet somehow, that slipped through the cracks when Kyler Murray did this questionable photoshoot. It appears that Murray and his team have now seen how the series of pictures could be an issue (you think?), because like I said, Kyler deleted the post not too long after it went up.
That’s because the noise started to get pretty loud online. If Michael Vick is Murray’s role model, it makes sense to pay homage to one of the best dual-threat QBs to ever play in the NFL. However, there’s got to be a better way to shoutout an NFL legend than this, and that’s what people on social media were voicing:
this was a bad move lol a PR nightmare if you will 😂
pic tough tho 🔥‼️
terrible for his career

Pick either the jersey or the dog, but don’t put both in the picture lol https://t.co/y1o5eVen8B pic.twitter.com/rHtLFEu0PH
