Gavin Adcock is laying down the facts of what happened over the weekend.
Gavin Adcock was in Anderson, South Carolina, for Rock the Country weekend, which also happened to feature Nickelback as the headliner later on in the evening. However, things took a turn when Adcock found himself in an altercation with the sound engineer for Nickelback during his set.
While Adcock was onstage, he noticed his father and the sound guy getting into an argument, and he ran offstage to protect his family. In viral footage, Gain runs off the stage:
“Hey, let me tell you something real quick.”
Somebody, who may be Gavin’s dad, can be heard with some choice words for the man, too:
“That mother**** right there, I’m gonna kick his f***** a–.”
And Gavin then addressed the sound guy himself:
“Hey buddy, you’re gonna lose your god–mn job you stupid a– bum, you better f*** off back there.”
After the sound guy got hauled off, Adcock went back to the stage and explained to the crowd what had just happened. Check it out:

Of course, Gavin has never really been one to mince words or hold back when it comes to standing up for what he believes in. He often calls out venue staff or fans for not behaving properly, and always ensures that his fans are protected during his shows. That mentality carries over when the event staff tries to kick out his family.
After the incident, Adcock hopped online to talk about it:
“My family had been standing there for 17 songs. I watched them the whole show, not causing any problems. You come up and get in my family’s face, trying to get my dad kicked out? And you know what, I got you kicked out. The police drug you out on top of your head, you bum. Congratulations, dude, Nickelback’s sound guy’s a real winner.”

Gavin Adcock was not kidding. Later during the festival, footage shows the soundman getting placed in handcuffs and removed from the show.

While it seems like the viral videos from the day clearly paint a picture of what happened, Gavin Adcock wanted to clear his and his father’s names. Today, July 27th, Adcock logged back online to share the full story of what had upset the sound guy and why this soundman wanted Adcock’s father removed from the show.
“So let’s go ahead and get this straight. There was a drink sitting on the soundboard. It wasn’t my dad’s, it was my acoustic guitar player’s mom’s. Sound dude comes around the corner, sees the drink, slings it off the soundboard, it’s empty by the way, and goes to cussing out my acoustic guitar player’s mom.
So my dad hears it probably about 5-10 yards away, steps over, gets in the dude’s face, basically tells him, ‘You better back up, dude, because people from the south don’t act that way. I don’t know where you’re from, but you need to get out of here.’
So I saw that happen, and I watched him. He goes over there and gets on his phone like a little snake. I said he’s about to do some bull. I’m up there singing ‘Cigarette.’ And he gets security to come down there, and I see them, and they are about to grab my dad, and I just run down the alley and tell them, ‘Nah, you ain’t kicking me out, he’s the one causing problems.’ So security got him, took him on his way. That was it.”
Not playing devil’s advocate here, but as a sound engineer, seeing a drink that could spill on the equipment is indeed stressful. However, yelling at people and getting in someone’s face is never the answer.
Adcock was standing up for the folks he loves, and for that, I respect it.
